8 crazy years of Ministry of Laser!
It feels only right to take a wee moment to reflect on how far we’ve come. Never could Liz have imagined, when she took a chance and started on her own on Buchanan Street, that we’d make it this far. A huge heartfelt thanks to all our amazing clients over the years - without your support none of this would have been possible. Now let’s see what the next 8 years bring! Liz is hoping she’ll be on a beach somewhere by then!

Hormones are a pesky business!

Hormonal imbalances, at any stage of life, can cause excessive hair growth in women, a condition known as hirsutism, which occurs when the body produces too many androgens, a group of hormones that include testosterone.

Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of hirsutism in women and is thought to affect between 5 and 10% of all women of reproductive age.

At Ministry of Laser we meet many women affected by PCOS. Though we must stress that we can never promise to get rid of all unwanted hair permanently, Laser can be an extremely effective solution for managing excessive hair growth and is much kinder to l skin than other methods of removal. If your hair growth is hormone related, it is likely that you will require more sessions and regular top ups as we will always be fighting against your hormones, but many of our clients have found laser to be completely life changing in terms of confidence - reducing skin irritation from relentless shaving and tweezing and giving long lasting smooth results.

This is one of the most common questions people ask when considering laser hair removal!

The number of sessions varies for each person, as factors like hair type, skin type, and hormones all play a role.

On average, we recommend 8-10 sessions for optimal results. The time between sessions is also important:

✨ Face – Every 4 weeks
✨ Body – Every 6 weeks

This timing ensures that we target the hair during its Anagen phase (the active growth stage). Since only 10-15% of your hair is in this phase at any given time, multiple treatments are needed to effectively reduce hair growth💡
