When travelling down the road of life, you get to meet different people and ways of life along the way. We've been lucky enough to find interesting ways of life, amazing therapies and gifted practitioners along our way. With the busy, often complicated lives that we lead we know it's not always possible to have a wee break from the norm. We know how meditating for half an hour, going to an hours holistic therapeutic session or spending your weekend on a yoga retreat can put you back up on top of the world. And so, The Wee Retreat aims to bring the therapies, ways of life and practitioners we have found along the way to you... so you experience the serenity and calm from your own wee retreat.

Pilates is back! New 4 week beginners course 💪

Pilates is a mindful, whole-body practice designed to improve coordination, strength, balance and posture. Classes focus on controlled, precise movements, that develop strong, functional muscles from head to toe.

Penny follows the APPI model, which emphasises correct alignment and conscious muscle activation, while exercises are adapted to suit different levels and bodies.

This beginners 4-week course is ideal if you are new to Pilates or want to refresh your understanding of deep core activation and alignment fundamentals. Its also great for anyone who wants to enhance their fitness routine, prevent injuries, or simply feel stronger and more aligned.

Join Jack for a 10 week course exploring anxiety and the body through Bioenergetics

In this 10 week block of classes we will explore the relationship between the body and anxiety, incorporating stretches, primal movements and breathwork. I will also present some simple ideas about how to understand anxiety and how we can move past it using non-technical language. We will cover themes such as grounding, vulnerability, resistance and setting solid boundaries.

Whilst anxiety is very complex in terms of biology, neurochemistry and psychology, it can be very helpful to reduce this down to a simple, understandable model where unprocessed emotional energy in the body is clamped down and repressed by our overthinking mind. Bioenergetics exercises aim to gently increase the energy in our body by releasing tension in the muscles and fascia, and letting that energy come up gently and be processed. Somewhat akin to gently shaking a fizzy drink to get all the bubbles out! As well as the workout in class I will give some short 10 minute or so workouts to do at home daily.

This class is open to all and you don’t have to be particularly flexible or fit to take part. If you have any questions please get in touch! jhmcphee@hotmail.com
