Can you help our junior parkrun break a record?

VICTORIA JUNIOR PARKRUN NEEDS YOU

On Sunday 25th January our incomparable Event Director, Blythe Lindsay, will reach her 500th volunteer credit πŸŽ‰and we have decided to celebrate by trying to break the record for the most volunteers at a single parkrun event.
πŸ†πŸ₯‡
We understand that the record is 136 held by Bushy parkrun at their 1000 event. We think it would be fun if a wee Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 junior parkrun could take that record from them. 🀣🀭

Are you free that Sunday morning?

If so, here are a few reasons why you should join us-

Volunteering at a junior parkrun is the best way to start your Sunday. βœ…

It will increase your own volunteer ratio βœ…

You could be part of a record breaking event βœ…

It's a beautiful park πŸ¦’πŸ¦†πŸŒ³βœ…

There will be πŸŽ‚ cake βœ…βœ…βœ…

Reasons for not joining in?

You are needed at your local junior parkrun

That's it...

We only need you for an hour 9-10 and all you will need to do is cheer on and encourage the children as they run the course.

Bring your friends and family.

Just send us a message at victoriajuniors@parkrun.com or leave a comment below with your barcode number.

If you don't yet have a barcode you can sign up for one here https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/?section=form .It's free and without obligation.

Thank you and see on the 25th.πŸ‘

(Did we mention that there will be πŸŽ‚ ?)

Victoria Park Community Trust are working to raise funds to improve OUR park with various projects such as looking at improving drainage in the garden area. As you know this is often flooded. The Council do not have funds available to fix the issue but raising funds will assist and every penny raised will go back into the park.

If you are planning a run this year VPCT asks you to consider raising funds for this worthy cause. One option is below but you may have your own ideas:

The Kiltwalk which is due to take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April. This is an annual charity walk between Glasgow and Balloch and raises large sums each year for chosen charities. There are three distances you can chose to walk:

-The Mighty Stride: up to 23 miles - Glasgow Green to Balloch
-The Big Stroll: up to 15 miles - Clydebank to Balloch
-The Wee Wander: up to 4 miles - a local walk around Balloch

VPCT are hoping that anyone who is interested in doing any of the walks might want to consider our Trust as the charity they would like to raise money for and to help us carry on with our work in Victoria Park. If anyone is interested they can sign up at https://www.thekiltwalk.co.uk/events/glasgow The event sells out fast.

Victoria park Community Trust has no regular income stream. Choosing VPCT as your Kiltwalk charity allows VPCT to carry on working to improve the physical aspects of the park and our engagement with local schools, organisations and the third sector. VPCT has been liaising with GCC and approval has been given for a drainage survey in Victoria Park which will identify the exact extent of remedial works required to solve the flooding problems. Some monies have also been set aside in the GCC NIIF fund for repairs.
