Families across Scotland are coming together with Mellow, a space for caregivers, children, and young people to experience connection and support at the times they would benefit from most.
Whether during pregnancy, the early years, or the challenges of adolescence, parents and young people are taking part in programmes like Mellow Bumps and Dads-to-Be, Mellow Growing Together, Going Mellow, Mellow for Young People, and Mellow Caring for Young People. 🫂 These are delivered in partnership with local authorities, schools, health services, and third-sector organisations to create safe, nurturing spaces where families can reflect, share experiences, and build stronger relationships.
Practitioners work side-by-side with caregivers using a strength-based, relational, and trauma-informed approach that recognises the resilience families already have, and supports them to build on it.
Our offer to families sits firmly within the Scottish Government’s Whole Family Wellbeing ambitions, which focus on early help, prevention and support that is non‑stigmatising, holistic and promotes children’s rights.
Our groups bring these principles to life by allowing parents to feel heard and supported, encouraging young people to understand and express their needs and emotions, and creating networks for families that last long after the sessions end.
Our programmes also offer a meaningful way for Practitioners to connect with families, strengthen their own skills, and contribute to positive, long-term change. Together, we aim to help families across Scotland move towards the relationships and future they envision for themselves and their children.
These are the voices of our parents:
💭 “It felt welcoming and not judgemental. I felt listened to and supported and it was reassuring to know that other parents were experiencing the same challenges as me.”
💭 "Being kinder to myself, looking after myself more, I know that if I'm happy, the kids are going to be happy… I feel like the whole thing has just been amazing. It has changed a lot for me."
💭 “The Practitioners are just normal people down to earth. They're not what I thought and they have a laugh with you, it's not just the parents in the group, they're part of the group. I've had a really good time and I'm really sad that it's finished.”
