How do you cope with your inner chatter? What is it saying to you and do you believe it? This article talks about ways we might create a distance from our inner voice when it is less than helpful.

But first we need to create space to listen to what it is saying. Another reason to try meditation or mindfulness practice or anything which brings you into the present so you can notice how you feel.

We all want to help people feel better..but sometimes trying to 'fix' people just makes them feel like you're minimising their pain. Holding back and listening says, I hear you, this is your story and I'm prepared to sit with you in this rather than try to move us both somewhere else.

Nobody wants to be kicked when they are already down so naturally, we think that telling people uplifting mantras about positivity will give them the boost they need, but this is not always the case.

What 'inner pollution' are you carrying? What negative thoughts or emotions are you holding or tolerating? When you can see what they are - you are free to make the choice to let them go, with the self-compassion and kindness you deserve.
