Today marks 10 years of Glasgow City Physiotherapy. GCP was started as Scott felt that physiotherapy could offer more, be more 'for the patient', and give more time. We have came a long way from a single person in a conference room in David Lloyd, to having our own space on Buchanan Street City Centre with four physiotherapists, 3 massage therapists, a psychologist ( )and a dietitian.

To get to this point we have so many people to thank and will be sending individualised letters and free vouchers to a lucky few people as a thank you for their time, help and referring more people for us over the last ten years.

We would also like to thank the clubs who have taken the time to promote us and continue to trust us to treat their athletes. aac,

We are delighted to be one of the top clinics in scotland and will continue to strive to improve and better ourselves to help you all.

Competition at the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k on Friday 2 June is expected to be as hot as the forecast, with the form of two Cambuslang Harriers suggesting they are favourites to secure the respective men’s and women’s titles.

Michael Christoforou, who narrowly missed out on a podium place in 2019, comes into the race on the back of a recent fifth-placed finish at the Babcock Shettleston 10k where he ran a time of 30:55.

The main challenger to Christoforou is expected to be East Kilbride AC’s Daryl Reid. Reid pipped Christoforou to sixth at the β€˜Goodwin in 2022 and has a 10k personal best of 30:21, a mark that is just 10 seconds outside that set by the Cambuslang runner on the road. Reid was a winner earlier this year at the Dunbartonshire AAA 10 Mile Championship, which he completed in a time of 51:24.

Among the other contenders is the improving Jack Heathwood of host club Bellahouston Harriers. Already this year, Heathwood has smashed through the nine-minute barrier for 3,000 metres and posted a personal best of 15:04 at the Scottish 5k Championships. Most recently he placed ninth in the EMF Edinburgh Half Marathon last weekend, breaking 70 minutes for the first time. Tony Connelly of the Bellahouston Road Runners is also expected to feature in the podium reckoning. His winter training culminated in a new personal best of 2:26:28 at the TCS London Marathon.

On the women’s side, Eve Mackinnon returns to the field seeking to defend her title from 2022. The Cambuslang Harrier brought her best to the event last year, posting a personal best time for 10k on the road of 35:39. Her last race was on the track – she ran a time of 36:17 at Highgate Harriers Night of the 10000m PB's on 20 May.

Mackinnon’s main competition is likely to come from recent winner of the Troon 10k, Yvonne McNairn of Giffnock North A.C. McNairn was second behind Mackinnon at the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k in 2022. Her personal best for 10k on the road is 36:18.

Another possible contender is a three-time winner of the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k. Jenny Bannerman of Inverness Harriers won the event in 2016, 2018 and 2019, posting times well under 36 minutes on each occasion – peaking in 2018 when her winning time was 35:08. Her personal best for 10k on the road is 34:52.

Bannerman finished in 18th place at the recent Babcock Shettleston 10k in a time of 37:25. Just ahead of her in that race was Rhian Dawes of Victoria Park City of Glasgow AC, who also takes to the start line on Friday night.

β˜€οΈWith the event another sell-out and beautiful weather forecast, Friday night promises to be another memorable occasion. Runners can look forward to running a flat, fast course in and around scenic Pollok Park and to then enjoying a post-race beer and burger that comes with their entry.

With thanks to sponsors Migo Sports, Glasgow City Physiotherapy, and J Thomson Colour Printers, we look forward to seeing everyone on Friday night!

Last weekend there were some amazing results from people who have visited the clinic. As always I believe physio is a tiny part of what makes these guys and girls so special and perform so well! (We still love to be a tiny part of that though).

First up is of . This guy is on fire at the moment, British record 8th fastest EVER in the world indoors for the 1500m. We have been telling people for years this guy is going to do something special!
πŸ“Έ trackfieldwild

Secondly we have 3/4 girls in the 4x200m from the British University championships. All of these girls have worked incredibly hard and consistently for so long and are an absolute pleasure to have in the clinic. Campbell, Emma barclay and Rachel Callen.

Next we have the lads. Picking up a silver team medal at the Scottish Cross Country championships. Taha, Jamie Burns and Daniel Bradford. Great runs from these guys all enjoying their running.

Lastly the young guys of , we are immensely proud of these guys (and not just because physio Scott sometimes runs way behind them at training). lewis, fraser and harry have had there fair share of injuries over the last couple of months and years and have come out of it fighting.

Very grateful as a clinic to get to work with such a talented hard working bunch of people. Onwards and upwards.
