Back in clinic today after a wonderful couple of weeks holiday

💤 Lots of rest
🥗 Good food
🐕 Long dog walks (followed by hours of tick checking 🥴)
📕 read a couple of books (that had nothing to do with nutrition or acupuncture).
Caught up with family and friends.
Prosecco and cake 🧁

This break was so needed after a busy few months in clinic and a bit of family drama and the end of last month (everyone is fine now).

I see so many couples going through multiple rounds of IVF or experiencing the heartbreak of recurrent miscarriage…

And often, they haven’t been fully investigated.

We’re told everything is “normal.”
But normal doesn’t always mean optimal.

Basic testing like AMH and standard semen analysis only scratches the surface, they don’t tell us why pregnancy isn’t happening or progressing.

And male fertility?
It’s still hugely overlooked.

These are three tests I come back to time and time again:

The functional tests I come back to time and time again when supporting fertility 👇
So many people I work with have been told everything is “normal”…
But when we look deeper, there’s often more going on.
🦠 Microbiome testing (vaginal, uterine or semen)

After a very intense stressful few days, I’ve taken some time out to go for a lovely walk in one of my favourite places.

This place is full of memories for me (and knee scars) it’s changed a bit over the decades, safer and more accessible for all, but I still love it.

The smell of moss and wild garlic, the sounds of birds and the river, it’s full of wildlife, red squirrels and deer. I’m a Highland girl at heart and I crave water and hills to ground me.

Thanks to all who had appointments cancelled or rescheduled at short notice for your understanding.

Normal service resumes on Monday… briefly before I go off on holiday!!! 🤗

30% of fertility cases are male factor, most in my experience are undiagnosed.

I might be over simplifying things here, but these are the foundations to improving your fertility through diet.

Sounds simple?
Guessing most of you already know this?

This biggest issue I see in clinic is actioning this correctly.

Let’s take protein, know you should eat more protein, but are you eating the right protein for your body? Is it clean? Are you getting enough? Are you using protein powder you found online to get levels up?

Healthy fats (there’s a whole post on fats coming), do you know what healthy fats are and why we need them? Are you scared of adding any fat into your diet, because the IVF clinic wants your BMI lower? Are you eating fat free or low fat dairy?
