Born This Way

Born This Way Mother and Baby Wellness Classes The Born This Way Hypnobirthing programme is a full antenatal education programme with a positive approach.

The course teaches you how to have a positive experience no matter what type of birth you have and prepares you for all eventualities. The course teaches lots of tools to empower you and your birth companion to feel confident for the birthing day. The Hypno part involves teaching you techniques to learn how to become relaxed and in control. You will be the person that decides what you want to focu

s on and when you are in a deeply relaxed state you become more open to positive suggestions. The Hypno part also involves teaching the mind new, positive messages about birth which helps to remove learned messages that are no longer useful as you navigate your birth experience. The relaxation tools help to override negative thoughts of birth being something that should fill you with fear and dread. The Born This Way Hypnobirthing programme is taught over 10 hours as private sessions in the comfort of your own home or via zoom as live online sessions. I love seeing the difference I can help make to couples and hope to work with you soon.

A little update because August filled up FAST 💗✨

Private 1:1 hypnobirthing spaces for August are now fully booked and I honestly couldn’t be more grateful for all the lovely families choosing me to support them through pregnancy and birth 🥹

If you’ve been thinking about getting birth prep sorted, now is the time to book ahead.

✨ Group course availability is now very limited
✨ September is the next availability for private clients

They come because they want to feel calm, informed and genuinely confident walking into birth — whatever path it takes.

And that’s exactly what we focus on 💫

Whether you’re planning a home birth, induction, epidural, caesarean or still figuring it all out… I’ll help you feel prepared, in control and supported every step of the way.

A huge congratulations to Kirstin and Andy on the arrival of their beautiful baby girl, Georgina 🤍

It’s been such a privilege to support you both through my in-person live Zoom group course, and to then hear how you brought those tools into your birth experience in such a powerful way.

You didn’t just “hope for the best” — you prepared, you practiced, and you trusted yourselves. And it shows.

I am so proud of how you used your breathing, relaxation techniques, and mindset tools to stay calm, grounded, and in control throughout labour. Even when things felt intense, you came back to what you knew — and that makes all the difference.

This is exactly why I do what I do. Because birth isn’t about doing it perfectly — it’s about feeling informed, supported, and able to navigate it in a way that feels right for you.

Kirstin and Andy, you did just that. And baby Georgina is here because of it 🤍

If you’re preparing for birth and want to feel that same sense of calm and confidence, this is exactly what my Born This Way Hypnobirthing course is here for — real tools for real birth experiences.

Why me: as a midwife, Hypnobirthing teacher and mum of two with two very different birth experiences myself, I know how powerful preparation truly is when it’s grounded in both evidence and lived experience.

Welcome to the world, Georgina.

And remember — if you feel dizzy, unwell, overheated or notice reduced baby movements, always seek advice from your maternity team.

Last night was our final session with my May Born This Way Hypnobirthing Zoom group course.

A small, supportive space of parents preparing for birth together — learning how to work with their body, understand their options, and feel more confident as they approach labour.

There’s something really special about this final session…
because you can see the transformation in real time.

From fear → to confidence
From overwhelm → to calm preparation

And while this group online course is finishing tonight, there are still ways to prepare with me:

🤍 In-person group course in Hamilton starting 1st June
🤍 Private 1:1 sessions available Aug/Sept

Birth preparation isn’t about doing everything perfectly…
it’s about feeling informed, supported, and able to trust yourself in the moment.

If you’d like help deciding what would suit you best, just send me a message with “BIRTH” and I’ll guide you.

20/05/2026

An episiotomy is a small surgical cut made in the perineum (the area between the vaginal opening and the back passage) during the second stage of labour, when the baby is being born.

It is done to widen the vaginal opening to help the baby be born more quickly or more easily in certain clinical situations.

Before the cut is made, a local anaesthetic is usually given to numb the area. This means you should not feel the cut itself being made. However, you may still feel pressure, stretching, or the sensations of the baby being born, because those are separate from the skin sensation the anaesthetic numbs.

An episiotomy is typically only recommended if there is a clear reason, such as:
• baby needing to be born urgently
• assisted birth (forceps or ventouse)
• concerns about baby’s wellbeing
• the perineum not stretching safely in that moment

After birth, the cut is repaired with dissolvable stitches, and the area will be sore as it heals over the following days and weeks.

What’s important to understand is that this is not a routine procedure. When it is used, it should be explained as clearly as possible, and local anaesthetic is used to minimise pain during the procedure itself.

Everyone’s talking about eating dates to start labour…

But that’s not the kind of “date” that actually makes the biggest difference 👀

Here’s the part most people miss:

Labour isn’t something your body needs to be forced into.

It’s something your body allows… when it feels safe.

And if you’re constantly in your head —watching the clock, analysing every twinge, wondering if it’s “started yet”…

You’re not in the state that supports labour.

Because birth is driven by oxytocin.

And oxytocin thrives when you feel:✨ Calm✨ Private✨ Safe✨ Connected

It’s the same hormone released during intimacy, closeness, even laughter.

So yes — nutrition, movement, all of that can support your body…

But if your environment and mindset aren’t right?

You’re missing the foundation.

This is why I teach my clients to focus on:→ creating a calm, low-pressure environment→ switching off from “waiting mode”→ and actually feeling safe in their body

Because when you get that right…

Your body can do what it’s designed to do.

That’s the difference between feeling like you’re waiting for labour…

And feeling ready for it 🤍

Charlotte & Ross 🤍

I honestly feel so emotional writing this… because I know what it takes to walk into a birth after a previous C-section carrying both hope and fear.

From the moment you came to the group course, I could see how much this meant to you. You showed up, you asked the questions, you did the work to shift your mindset — and you trusted yourself in a way so many women are scared to.

And Charlotte… you did it.
Your VBAC. Your way.

Not because you were “lucky” — but because you were informed, prepared, and deeply connected to what you wanted.

It has been such a privilege to support you both on this journey. Watching you go from uncertainty to confidence is exactly why I do what I do.

Welcome to the world, beautiful Lochlan 🩵
You are so loved already.

And Charlotte — never forget how powerful you are ✨
