⭐️Now available to book - C-Section Scar Massage⭐️

I see lots of clients who have given birth via planned or emergency C-Sections. Following their surgery, clients can often be disconnected to this area and aren’t sure where to start when it comes to engaging and caring for their scars. However, a bit of gentle work, love and attention to this area can be hugely beneficial during the postnatal year and beyond.

Massage to a C-Section scar can help promote healthy tissue formation and reduce ongoing scar symptoms such as pain, numbness, itching and reduced mobility.

I trained in C-Section massage via the RESTORE method, a holistic approach that treats the scar but also considers the wider disruption within the body after a surgery. For example, you may experience low back or hip pain or changes to movement or gait. Scar massage techniques, plus working across the abdomen, low back and hips can reduce restriction, tension and encourage balance in the body.

Engaging with this area can also be reassuring and help towards emotional wellbeing, acceptance and healing.

Beginning with an initial chat and short assessment, a typical session will see up to 20 minutes of direct work to your scar (depending on your stage of healing) with the rest of the treatment time spent working on your abdominal area, back, hips and wherever you may be feeling tension (often back & shoulders from holding & feeding).

When can I come for a C-Section massage?

Following your postnatal check-up and once your scar is completely healed and there are no scabs – usually 8-12 weeks (each individual will be different).

Ideally start scar therapy in the first 16 weeks postnatally when remodelling activity in the scar is high. However, treatments can be beneficial at any point postnatally, even to mature scars more than 18 months old.

If there have been any serious complications during labour or pre/postnatally, I may need to get in touch with your medical team before commencing treatment.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch for more information or with any questions. Really excited to be doing more of this work!

💫New 💫 Postnatal Package
3 x 60min Postnatal massage for £135 - saving £15

Postnatal massage treatments are some of my absolute favourite treatments to offer. Alongside pregnancy, I’m not sure there’s a time where some tlc is sooo needed. Often it’s tight, painful mid-back and shoulders from holding & feeding (in awkward positions baby likes the most!) aching joints, exhaustion… to name some common complaints massage can help with.

Unfortunately I often see postnatal clients for only 1 or 2 sessions due to childcare & busyness. I’m introducing a discount package into the mix (available online as a gift voucher or to book yourself in person) to help encourage a few regular sessions for my postnatal clients. Ideal gifts for new mums or just a way to help clients keep good intentions on track.

I’m always open to discussing how to make sessions more accessible during this time & can be more flexible in the new at-home clinic with appointment times & having wee ones in the treatment room if it means you can get yourself here!

Also very excitingly, new training coming up very soon for me to boost my postnatal work with C-Section scars, more details to follow…

Hello!

Realising I haven’t yet mentioned on here something quite important coming up next month!

The next 3 weeks will be my last working from the clinic at Battlefield Chiropractic as I relocate to a new treatment space at home in Thornliebank!

Moving house and moving business so it’s all going on, but very excited for this new direction whilst quite sentimental about this last wee while in Battlefield – I have been here seven years now, so a big change.

Summertime means more availability, so please do get yourself booked in at Battlefield before I do the move if you have been meaning to come see me. Last day here will be Thurs 13th July.

Cracking on in the new place week after that?!?! Yes.

Thank you!!

Frolicking in the beautiful Scottish Lavender Oils fields with friends this weekend! Picked up some new aromas for the treatment room - some Lavandin essential oil made from the French variety of lavender grown here & a bunch of English (Scottish) lavender recently harvested. Things are going to get extra relaxing!

It’s set up as a ecology project by the family farm. Really recommend a visit & to catch the distillation demo, but be quick as I think it is all being harvested this week or v soon!

Have loved having more postnatal clients in recently - lots to work on, from achey arms and shoulders holding and feeding, residual lower back & hip post-pregnancy niggles, to needing some recup and rest time following sleepless nights.

It’s a challenge to find the time to come in postnatally during this hectic/readjustment stage, but I’m delighted when people do - these always feel like much-needed treatments and I find them very rewarding to do 💛

Do you know a new Mum/parent in need of some tlc? Send em my way!

A few recent things…

🗓From September I will be in the clinic 4 days per week (Tues - Fri, 1 Sat per month). Excited to have another day availability coming up!!

💆I’ve introduced a £5 price increase to £45 for an hour treatment as of this month.

➡️Covid policy - we are mirroring clients when it comes to mask wearing in the clinic, I shall pop one on if you have yours. I still have min 30mins between clients to continue to air out, clean room & change linens. Still using covid screen Qs when booking in.

Feeling good, feeling good. Thanks so much as ever!!☀️

Feet up today to focus on some study - brushing up on western & eastern approaches to pregnancy & discovering new bodywork techniques for expectant & postnatal clients 🤓📖🫄

“In our infatuation with modern technological medicine, we have moved away from the original forms of touch-based healing, seeing them as primitive and ineffective. It is true that not all aspects of traditional healing should be kept and that many aspects of modern medicine are fundamental to the care we expect. This is not a time to return to the past, nor a time for ‘either, or’, but a time to move forward and integrate the best aspects of both approaches.” Suzanne Yates
