Key statistics of individuals in Glasgow that have received gym passes as part of our Mental Health & Wellbeing project.

Access to the gym has proven to reduce the isolation faced when living in the UK asylum system as well as lower stress through physical exercise.

🔬 Our recent family trip to the Glasgow Science Centre! A group of 19 children and adults enjoyed interactive learning with families free to explore the different activities and exhibits at their own pace with a shared lunch together in the Clyde Suite.

💡Some of the older children shared they were excited for the trip as the Science Centre had been mentioned in their classes at school, while the younger kids had fun taking part in various activities with other kids visiting the centre.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the day out! 🌟🔭

It's been a busy month at RSS community-based accommodations - 3 of our guests have submitted fresh claims and thus have been able to move onto Home Office accommodation and get financial support. We'll be continuing to provide them with after-care support for 6 months after they move out of our flats - so thankfully it's not goodbye! Meanwhile, we're welcoming 3 individuals who've been made homeless and destitute by the UK Government's Hostile Environment are moving into these bed spaces.

One of our rooms ready for our new guest to move in along with a welcome pack to help them settle in.

As part of Refugee Festival Scotland, in order to honour and celebrate the contributions of those seeking sanctuary, we hosted our ‘Milestones and Meals: Celebrating Milestones Through Food and Story’ event on Monday the 16th of June. This event was hosted in partnership with Refugee Festival Scotland, Kinning Park Complex, Glasgow Community Food Network and That's Yer Dinner we present’.

The event exhibited some of the amazing work created during our recent cooking and creative writing workshops, where asylum seekers and refugee individuals explored this year’s festival theme ‘Milestones’ through food and writing. Individuals who attended the event were able to take home a cookbook created from the workshop to try some of the recipes at home. As part of the celebrations we also shared a community meal together.
The event was a joyful celebration of diversity, creativity and community togetherness.

Over the next few days, we will be posting photos of the event, let’s start by sharing some photos of our exhibition.
