The holiday season at Mosswood Care Home has been filled with so much joy and meaningful connections! The interaction between the residents and the children has been really heartwarming. It’s so lovely how the child like spirit and energy of the kids can bring such a fresh spark to the residents.
The carol singing and pass the parcel game must have been so much fun for everyone involved! Christmas has truly highlighted the incredible community support we are so fortunate to have at Mosswood.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Linwood Post Office, who kindly donated funds towards our Christmas parties, and to Asda, Linwood for their generous donation of mince pies. The kindness and support from our local community means so much to our residents and staff, helping to make the festive season extra special!
Our arts and crafts sessions have been thoroughly enjoyed by both residents and staff, often with the staff getting just as involved, if not more so, than the residents! This is such a special time of year, with each unit decorating their halls and rooms with festive creations, filling the home with Christmas cheer and truly making it a season to be jolly.

Lillyburn Care Home took festivities to a whole new level as our residents fully embraced a Christmas competition for the best decorated Zimmer and wheelchairs for their Christmas parties. The staff fully embraced the challenge as they helped to add sparkle and glitter to the day, providing much laughter and joy.
Well done to everyone and especially to Margaret in Kintyre, William in Islay, and Isabel in Arran, as Santa announced them as the resident winners!!

🎅✨ Santa’s Visit to Lillyburn Care Home! ✨🎅
The long-awaited visit from Santa finally happened at Lillyburn Care Home last weekend!
Visiting children and their loved ones enjoyed a magical experience, starting with a ‘Live Feed’ from the North Pole before writing their letters to Santa as they eagerly awaited his arrival.
Our resident Ann stole the show as the mischievous Elfie Wigglebottom! She had great fun playing tricks on the children, however she did eventually help them check their letters to make sure they were ready for Santa.
We were thrilled to welcome Agnes and her grandchildren, who joined in the festive fun and shared in the Christmas magic.

Our residents have been having a wonderful time celebrating the season in true festive style. Santa’s Grotto brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of holiday cheer – and we’re thrilled to share these special moments with you!

✨ Don’t forget – Santa’s Grotto will be open for children on 22nd and 23rd December from 3pm to 5pm. Every child will receive a sweetie cone, and all donations will go towards our Residents’ Fund.

🎄 Festivities in Full Swing at Lillyburn Care Home! 🎅

Our residents have been embracing the holiday spirit and enjoyed a truly magical experience in Santa’s Grotto. Smiles, laughter, and festive cheer filled the air as everyone celebrated this special time together.

✨ Remember! Santa’s Grotto will be open on 22nd December and 23rd December from 3pm to 5pm, where children are invited to meet Santa in our grotto. Every child will receive a sweetie cone, and all donations will go towards our Residents’ Fund.

We’re opening our magical Christmas Grotto at Lilyburn Care Home and inviting children to visit Santa on the following dates:
📅 12th December – 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
📅 14th December – 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
📅 22nd December – 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
📅 23rd December – 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Every child will receive a sweetie cone as a festive treat! All we ask is for a small donation, which will go directly into our Residents’ Fund to support activities and events.

What a fantastic day we had!
Some of our residents enjoyed a wonderful trip to Hayston Golf Club for a Charity Christmas Party, all in support of Build South Africa.
The afternoon was filled with festive cheer – we indulged in a delicious afternoon tea, enjoyed live music, took part in exciting games and a raffle, and even had a special visit from Santa Claus!
Margaret told us, “I had a great afternoon,” while Joe shared, “It was a very enjoyable day.” Their smiles said it all!
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible and to those who contributed to such an important cause. It was truly a day to remember!

A Taste of China at Lillyburn 🥢

Chef Matthew and his dedicated team recently prepared a delightful Chinese food tasting experience for our residents, following feedback that they would enjoy themed takeaway-style evenings. The event was very well received, with a variety of dishes enjoyed across the home. While a few found the spicier options a little strong, the evening was a great success and sparked plenty of conversation.
We are now looking forward to our next themed evening: Italian Night 🇮🇹. More details to follow soon.

Inter-generational Connections with Riverside Childcare 🎶

Each week, for a block of six sessions per term, our residents take part in joyful Inter-generational Sessions with the children from Riverside Childcare. These sessions begin with the Hello Song, followed by a selection of well-loved nursery rhymes that everyone enjoys.
This week’s session was particularly memorable, as the nursery organised a Pet Day. One of the highlights was Luna the snake, who intrigued both children and residents alike. Sheila had a wonderful time role-playing as a vet, helping the children care for cuddly toys by administering pretend injections and applying bandages.
These shared moments bring warmth, laughter and a sense of community to all involved 💛

Afternoon Tea and Dance at Hayston Golf Club 🏌️‍♂️

Lillyburn residents recently enjoyed a lovely outing to Hayston Golf Club for an afternoon tea and dance in support of the charity event Kirkie and Lenzie Build South Africa 2026. The afternoon featured a delicious spread of sandwiches, mini-pies, cakes, tea and coffee, along with some light-hearted games.
Entertainment was provided by singers performing a lively Country and Western set, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Although we left empty-handed from the raffle, spirits remained high and it was a wonderful afternoon nonetheless 😊

⚽Celebrating 10 years of the Senior Sporting Games🏉

At the start of October, our Lillyburn residents joined friends from Birdston and other care homes at the Glynhill Hotel in Paisley for the 10th anniversary of the Senior Sporting Games, organised by the wonderful team at Erskine Veterans Charity.

The room looked spectacular, it was clear to see how much time and attention had been put into the day. Our Lillyburn residents sat alongside some of our Birdston residents, enjoying food, music and good company. There was plenty of shared laughter throughout the day, we enjoyed games of Hover football, Pool Noodle Archery and The Human Fruit Machine creating lots of laughter all round. We were delighted that Lillyburn took home Gold for Tin Can Alley receiving medals and a cup 🥇🏆.

A heartfelt thanks to Erskine for inviting us along to such a wonderful day, we are already looking forward to next year!
