Whether you’ve got some experience or you’re a complete beginner, why not come along and try some 1 to 1 sessions in 𝗕𝗢𝗫𝗜𝗡𝗚 or 𝗞𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗕𝗢𝗫𝗜𝗡𝗚!!? 🥊🤓⁣

I began my journey in Martial Arts at 16 years old and it became my biggest passion for over a decade. It improved my confidence, got me in great shape, helped me relieve stress and gave me an outlet for any anger and frustration I may have been holding on to from day to day life as a teenager.⁣

I earned black belts in both Kickboxing and Filipino Martial Arts and competed in Muay Thai and K1 shows around Scotland. ⁣

Even now that my training programme is more general, I still enjoy hitting the bag and mitts regularly to keep me fit and stress-free(ish 🥴).⁣

Personal Training sessions cover all the basics such as stance, guard, footwork, basic punches/kicks etc. and over time we can move towards more advanced areas such as evasion, blocking and catching strikes, counter striking and more complex combinations on the pads. ⁣

Most of what you do would be split between coached floorwork to sort your stance, footwork and practice basic combinations etc. as well as you hitting punchbags, mitts, Thai pads, paddles and body belts. ⁣

Along with all this you’d be given strength conditioning exercises to help you improve your athletic performance and general fitness. ⁣

If you’re looking to take it more seriously and fight competitively, I can point you in the direction of high quality coaches/clubs as well as dealing with your strength and conditioning, nutrition plan and weight cut. ⁣

If any of the above sparks an interest for you, please send a dm to get started or for more info. ⁣

required for this beauty of a breakfast..⁣

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗸𝗲 🥞 ⁣

2 eggs 🍳🍳⁣
1 egg white 🥚⁣
1 large banana 🍌 ⁣

1. Mash the banana and then add the eggs and whisk together.⁣

2. Add a little low cal spray to a pan or wipe on some oil or butter with a piece of kitchen roll.⁣

3. Add the full mixture and cook for a minute or 2 each side. If the mixture isn’t giving you much confidence for a flip just get it under the grill to cook the top side. You can even just grill until it firms up then take out, flip and finish in the pan. ⁣

That it. 3 steps. ⁣

I’d normally serve with some Greek yoghurt to boost the protein above 20g, along with some berries. But I didn’t have any Greek yoghurt left. So here I’ve used 50g coconut stracciatella yoghurt which meant slightly less protein than I’d call an optimal serving. ⁣

I also sometimes add a small drizzle of honey 🍯 dependant on how ripe the banana was. ⁣

This version provides 𝟰𝟯𝟬 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 and ~𝟭𝟱𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻.⁣

Enjoy 😋 ⁣

The short answer is yes!⁣

If you are in a sedentary job, you can’t find time to become generally more active right now and you’re short…there’s every chance that in order to lose some weight at a healthy rate, you’ll be on somewhere around 1200 calories daily.⁣

Personally at this level I wouldn’t be straight up eating 1200 kcal daily with 3 x 400 calorie meals. I’d be using periods of fasting and cycling calories in order to be able to enjoy a little bit of indulgence now and again as it’s a pretty low allowance. ⁣

I’d also be seriously looking to move things around within my life in order to allow me to become more active, as this would allow for an increase in my calorie allowance, therefore increasing the chance that I’ll stay motivated and adhere to my programme. ⁣

So yes, to answer the question, some people may need to be on 1200 calories per day to lose weight. It depends on their individual situation. ⁣

The issue with these very low calorie intakes is when they are thrown out as an arbitrary target for everyone. This will never work as we are all completely unique and have wildly different energy requirements. ⁣

To someone standing 5’1”, in a sedentary 9-6 job, single parent so little time to be out walking or at the gym after work and looking to lose a little bit of body fat…1200 calories might do the job right now. ⁣

Someone at 6’2”, landscape gardener, at the gym every night for weights and cardio and looking to lose a bit of fat… 1200 calories per day will likely put them in a very stressful and potentially dangerous situation. However, most likely they just won’t last long on the diet and will feel like a failure and binge eat to feel better…and the restrict - binge cycle continues. ⁣

Be sensible about your dieting. There’s only so much fat you can lose in a week without chopping away at muscle tissue, which you don’t want. ⁣

Keep your calorie deficit small and stay consistent. When it stops working, nudge the % up a little and see if it kickstarts again. ⁣

Bottom line…if you don’t know what you’re doing, pay someone who does. Get a coach to guide and support you.⁣

With the hard work in the bag..it’s time for a snooze 😴 ⁣

At the end of a sports massage I like to give clients 5-10 minutes to just relax and enjoy a bit of quiet time. ⁣

I will normally apply some cups to the feet and/or calves and while I clear up, I’ll just let them listen to some relaxing music and drift off if they feel like it. ⁣

After all, one of the main goals of any massage treatment is to calm and relax the nervous system 🧘🏻‍♂️ not to beat your body into submission 🔨 ⁣

Good luck to .ackah_ this Saturday when he fights down in Sunderland at the show. Great camp, easy weight cut and looking very calm and ready to go 👊🏾

Tune in on the PPV. Link in bio. ⁣

Old habits die hard!

So make sure that your children and the young people around you go into adulthood with strong, healthy old habits. ⁣

The easiest way to do that isn’t to tell them what to do..it’s to SHOW them 🙂⁣

Choosing anything these days is difficult as there are simply SO many options! ⁣

Want to buy a new laptop? …a new phone? …a new sofa? …book a hotel for a trip away? …choose a gym to join?⁣

Start looking online and I guarantee you’ll be days or even weeks looking at reviews, offers, different sites, checking dimensions, asking on Facebook what your friends chose etc. etc. ⁣

It’s extremely overwhelming. ⁣

Life is so busy for most of us and we are so short on time. Yet life is also so 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 these days and so the risk of getting a bad deal isn’t one we are willing to take. ⁣

When it comes to choosing a personal trainer or coach, I know that when you sign up with The Movement Co, you’re getting a high level of service and I know you’re also getting value for money…but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will know. ⁣

So to help you out, here are just 5 things that you can take advantage of when training with me at The Movement Co. With 5 more to follow next Monday! ⁣

We tend to analyse our own behaviours, appearance, performance etc..waaaaaay more than anybody else ever would. ⁣

Give. Yourself. A break!! ⁣

Have a great weekend and be nice to yourself. Focus on what you DO have going for you rather than what you don’t. You can work on the rest 😀⁣

A single pull-up is the goal of so many people..and I can understand why. ⁣

Lifting yourself up towards that bar is arguably the ultimate test of bodyweight strength! ⁣

Pimp your pull-ups with these 4 great coaching cues 💪🏼⁣🤪⁣

P.s. I know it looks like 2 points per ‘point’ 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️ but it’s more a case of the second reinforcing the first. I can assure you it’s only 4 things to remember 🥸⁣

There is only one person responsible for working on your mental health and that’s YOU!⁣

So make it a priority. ⁣

Improve broken relationships and end toxic ones, take some time out, get a massage, plan a trip away, get a new job, move to a new area, exercise more, eat better, drink more water, sleep better…there are so many things you can do to improve your outlook and to make you feel better.⁣

As always..if things are just not improving or you’re in a particularly dark place you need to speak to a specialist. Or at least speak to someone you trust. But only you can make that move. ⁣

Have a great weekend 😊⁣

The wee picture in the bath still cracks me up 🤣🤣🛁 ⁣

This is step 1 in a 14-step process I laid out for .ackah_ 5kg weight cut back in November alternating between a hot bath and towel wraps. ⁣

He much preferred the bath method for the weight cut over his usual sauna. The reason being that he feels less fuzzy headed due to being able to keep his face and head cool and away from the heat. This is obviously unavoidable in a sauna. ⁣

When you are energy depleted, dehydrated and stressed, it’s the little things that make the difference. The last thing you need is to be feeling miserable the day before a big fight!! ⁣

Weight was bang on the money and he produced an strong, energetic performance to grab the win on the road down in Sunderland 👏🏼⁣
⁣Ackah is a promising fighter out of . Give him a follow to keep up to date on upcoming fights etc. ⁣

If you are a fighter or work with fighters…get in touch for help with weight cut, strength and conditioning or sports massage treatments. ⁣

If you can move, then please do. Regularly. ⁣

Total rest as a method for recovery is old news. The goal these days is always to get moving. This particularly applies to lower back pain where often people still look to rest and pain relief as a treatment and expect to recover. ⁣

I remember breaking my elbow in a Muay Thai fight when I was 19. I had surgery to insert pins and wire in to my arm the next day and as soon as I woke up the surgeon came around with a bunch of junior doctors holding clipboards and started trying to bend and straighten my arm. ⁣

I remember at the time saying ‘Wow, what you doing doctor?’ and pulling away slightly. He said, ‘We can’t afford your elbow stiffening up, you need to start moving or you’ll lose the range of movement.’⁣ So that’s what I did. And it worked.

The same applies to a lot of injuries. If you stop moving for extended periods, things are only likely to get worse. ⁣

Even if it’s just a daily mobility and stretching routine for 5-10 minutes and a few walks per week. It’s so important not to allow yourself to stiffen up further by moping around feeling sorry for yourself when injured. There’s almost always something you can do. ⁣
