Tantrums and anxious breakdowns often reach the huge level they do because we accidentally miss the key point to intervene.

When we notice easily signs of worry or other big feelings, we tend to try to play it down or not ‘add fuel to the fire’ - but actually, this is the key point to intervene. These feelings are bubbling away and growing inside and what we then see is the big meltdown when children can’t hold it in anymore. By intervening early, we support them before their brain is in a fight, flight or freeze state.

So start looking for your child’s earliest possible warning signs - and use support strategies there!

Here’s the big mistake we make when talking to children about worry and anxiety…we talk about the thing and not how they feel about that thing.

We focus on why they don’t want to go to school, football, their friend’s house…but actually it’s the feeling of worry of anxiety that needs discussed, explored and supported.

There will always the things to worry about. By helping them understand and learn how to cope with their worry, that’s where we make the real changes!

Meet “The Team” — The Brain Monsters!

These are the characters I’ve designed to help young children understand what’s going on inside their minds when big emotions like anxiety, fear, or anger hit. I say ‘I’ but my poor husband got tasked with drawing these lol!

Brain Monster - “The Boss” of everything we do and everything we feel.

Amygdala Monster – the security guard that tries to keep us safe but sometimes panics over ‘fake danger’

Hippocampus Monster – the memory keeper who keeps our positive, and tricky or upsetting, memories

Prefrontal Cortex Monster – the sensible part that helps us make good decisions

Neuron Monster – the messengers who build ‘bridges’ to help us learn

By learning about them, kids see that emotions aren’t “bad” — they’re just signals from a busy brain and each part trying to do its job right!

Helping kids understand their minds means they grow up with better emotional skills, less shame, and more confidence.
I teach all of this in fun, easy-to-understand ways — from 1-2-1 sessions to online courses and guided programmes.

Want to help your child with worry, anxiety, low confidence or resilience?…I’ve got a method for that!
I have a small group of parents ready to start The Anxiety Method on 20th May, and I’m happy to welcome two more families in before we begin.
This is the exact framework I use in my 1:1 support — but created for families who needed something more flexible around busy life, work, clubs, tired evenings and the mental load that comes with parenting.
I’m so aware that parents don’t need extra information that will just be overwhelming. Thet need;
a clear step-by-step plan that works
support when things feel hard
simple strategies that work in everyday life
someone to ask for help when they’re thinking:
“What do I do now?”
In The Anxiety Method, we work step-by-step through:
understanding the brain and anxiety
emotions and coping skills
confidence and self-esteem
resilience and handling challenges
With:
✔ parent + child videos
✔ simple activities
✔ WhatsApp support
✔ live sessions
✔ lifetime access
This is designed to create real, long-term change - not just firefighting difficult moments (although we do that too!).
We start Wednesday 20th May.

Despite me knowing a lot and talking a lot about worry…I still to plenty of it myself! One of the reasons I love working with parents so much is because I don’t just support their child, I support them too. I end up becoming so close with so many of my clients because I’ve been there too - I get it and understand the pressure on parents and at times, the never ending worry! What are your biggest worries right now?
