Tantrums and anxious breakdowns often reach the huge level they do because we accidentally miss the key point to intervene.
When we notice easily signs of worry or other big feelings, we tend to try to play it down or not ‘add fuel to the fire’ - but actually, this is the key point to intervene. These feelings are bubbling away and growing inside and what we then see is the big meltdown when children can’t hold it in anymore. By intervening early, we support them before their brain is in a fight, flight or freeze state.
So start looking for your child’s earliest possible warning signs - and use support strategies there!
