General information
As part of the Scottish Government's commitment to reduce Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) within Scotland, a meeting was hosted by NHS Education for Scotland and the Chief Scientist Office in February 2005. From this meeting came the recommendation to establish a Network to work towards increasing the quality of research, and contribute towards the prevention and control of Healthcare-Associated Infections. SIRN comprises a formal Steering Group and an informal Network. The Steering Group consists of 15 representatives of academic research, clinicians, nurses, behavioural scientists, statisticians and educationalists who co-ordinate the functions of the Network. The Network has unlimited membership and will actively promote interaction amongst scientists, clinicians, healthcare professionals and patients to facilitate, promote and deliver research that will significantly contribute to the prevention and control of HAIs. By registering on-line, you will have access to the Network. At the moment SIRN has six special interest Sub-Groups, each with appropriate representation and working towards developing areas of weak research in Scotland by providing support and guidance for researchers in these areas.
