Hi! I’m Barry, a qualified CBT therapist from Glasgow. Before moving into psychotherapy, I worked across a variety of helping professions, including youth work and community development. I’ve been a youth worker, a community worker and an outdoor instructor. If there’s a role that involves supporting people, I’ve probably tried it — and had some great experiences along the way.

I now feel fortunate to have found something I truly love. I work with individuals experiencing a range of mental health conditions — from depression, anxiety and social anxiety to OCD and other difficulties. I take a bespoke approach to therapy, creating a unique treatment plan tailored to what will work best for each person.

I’ve always been fascinated by psychology, and I’m passionate about making evidence-based approaches accessible to everyone.

I really want the tools and techniques of psychology, which have been inaccessible for too long, to reach everyone who could benefit from them — in lives, communities, and everywhere they’re needed.

That’s what I really like about CBT: it gives you tools, tips and techniques to improve your well-being for the rest of your life.

Imagine your mind as a vast forest with many different paths winding through it. Some paths are well-trodden, clear, and easy to walk—these represent your thoughts and habitual ways of thinking. We can often think in a way that causes distress, those paths become the easiest to take because you've walked them so many times.

However, just because a path is well-worn doesn't mean it's the best route. Therapy allows us to explore, choosing to carve out new trails— ones that lead to better ways of being. At first, these new paths might feel difficult to walk on, overgrown with doubt and resistance. But the more you use them the clearer and more habitual they become. While the old, unhelpful paths start to fade and become less automatic.
