My wish for you:

You think kind thoughts when you look in the mirror.

You use your words for good.

As you enjoy new freedoms and discover who you are, you become the example to others.

You surround yourself with people who truly care.

You keep your head up, feet on the ground and hands free to create.

The perfect bedtime mantra when the worries of their little world takes a seat in their sleepy head.

This one. On repeat.

This card is a great way to remind children to look outside of themselves and pick up a piece of litter or notice when a teacher, hands full of books, needs a door opened.

In a group setting or classroom, encourage a child to share when they’ve been helpful or noticed when a friend or sibling has been helpful.

I love when this card is pulled because it gives me the opportunity to reinforce the importance of speaking up if they or a friend are having/have had an unwanted experience. Children stay silent when they’re worried they might get in trouble, get someone else in trouble, or are embarrassed. Let's keep having these important conversations.

When my 6-year-old pulled this card, I asked what her big dream is. I expected a trip to Innoflate or an ice cream, but her answer hit harder:

"More time wis you and dad."

(I'll be sad when she replaces "wis" with "with.")

Gulp.

“Doing what?” I asked.

In her sweet, optimistic voice, "Just chilling on the couch."

Sometimes, many times, that’s all they want. Let’s all take a minute this weekend to chill on the couch with our littles.

1. Find a cute basket so your cards are always accessible.

2. Choose the best time of day when YOU have the most chat energy to give.

3. Make pulling a card part of your daily routine.

Even if your child gets the same card twice in a week, the meaning is always different because they’re always changing.

It never gets old because kids love the element of surprise - what card will I get today?!

I thought these cards were for your daughter to read before bed or bring to a slumber party with friends.

I was wrong.

They’re for us to initiate and facilitate. They open the door to conversations you didn’t know you needed to have. You get to connect to your child in sometimes surprising ways.

Give yourself the gift of a new conversation.

Biggar Library will be receiving these wonderful bookmarks designed by the girls tonight. Our intention was to create something that will brighten someone’s day. It’s also a contest so I’m waiting for the results now and will email the winner.

Thank you all so much for supporting this fundraiser. You should all be so proud of how wonderful your children are. They were so fun and kind to each other, helpful and supportive when some were feeling shy around new faces.
