When you're going through tough times it can be hard to see anything good around you. The suggestion that you should be 'grateful' might initially feel dismissive and invalidating. However, showing gratitude and recognising the positive things in your life can cause a shift in your outlook and pull you upwards on the spiral out of low mood and anxiety. Any move in that direction is important as it makes the next step easier. Whether it is the first glimpse of spring flowers, the cat that stopped to miaow 'hello' in the street or the coffee out your favourite mug, notice it and allow yourself to feel gratitude today.
