Thirty six years ago this month I began my nursing career as a student nurse in Glasgow.

I always tell the story of how I was in for a tonsillectomy as an adult and nursing was first mentioned as a possible career for me. I was fine after my surgery, but two girls across from me were vomiting bowls of blood after wisdom teeth removal. I dutifully lifted the bowls, cleaned the girls up and took the bowls to the nurses station. One of the nursing staff asked if I'd ever thought about nursing, as few people were able to cope with blood. I just laughed and carried on.

A few years later a friend in my job headed into nursing. She made it sound like fun and I followed her into it a year later. The rest is history.

It's certainly been an interesting journey, having a family and managing my business alongside. My business is twenty years old this year and I have learned a few things about myself and resilience on the way. Yesterday I completed my nursing Revalidation. Each time I wonder if I will repeat it in another three years time, but it is a privilege to support others when times are difficult for them.

You're used to seeing this lady with very long nails. A little break from appointments due to feeling unwell has left her nails a little shorter than usual. Still beautiful though. The product offers the protection from breaks that your own nails can't.

Good morning and a Happy New Year to you. May 2026 be a good one for you.

I hope you've all had a lovely Festive season and you're ready for your new Monday of the new year with new goals.

Life coaching is a great way to focus on the positives and leave the negatives behind. For the past couple of years I've fallen out of the way of my diary and self-coaching, but I'm determined this year will be different.

That’s a wrap for 2025!!!

Thank you to beautiful Natalie Honeybee Bakes and Cakes for our chocolate brownies and some of the text on here. I couldn't have produced a more perfect thank you script, so I'm exercising some artistic licence here. I'm sure she won't mind! Look forward to a coffee and chat soon.

What an incredibly fast year and no doubt 2026 will be the same.

Love this.

Our family is "all grown up" and no wee grandchildren yet. I miss that build up to Christmas when they were crossing off the days to Santa visiting and their excitement was your excitement.

For all those who have "littlies" in their lives, embrace this time. Life moves at a rate of knots and next thing you know "they will never be so little at Christmas again". ❤️

I have been a Staff Nurse, and now Complementary Therapist at Strathcarron Hospice in Denny for the past 27 years caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

An interest in complementary therapies led to a Higher National Unit in Aromatherapy 23 years ago, followed by an ever-increasing range of beauty therapy qualifications and treatments for women of all ages.

In July 2006 I opened my home-based business Hayston Health and Beauty. I aim to continually develop myself and my business in order to offer health and beauty care as individual as each client who visits.

I’m extremely proud to be Scottish, therefore my logo will always feature a thistle. I hope you enjoy browsing the site.
