This makes such a difference to your eating habits.

Most of the disaster stories I hear start with 'I was really busy and I wasn't organised so....'

You are always going to be really busy.
So make sure you are organised.

The technique of these girls is absolutely unreal.

They have both been doing gymnastics since they were pre-school so their body control is second to none.

So where do the weights come in?
Why are they necessary?

Quite simply, to make them bulletproof against injuries from high intensity or long duration training.

The force from impact from tumbles, jumps/leaps quick turns and sprints can leave sport loving kids highly susceptible to strains, tears and overuse issues.

Lifting weights and doing specific body weight exercises for their sport can bolster the joints and make them so much more resilient.

It also helps with muscular endurance and explosive power which is a huge advantage in almost every sport.

Personally I LOVE that my girl at the age of 10, knows how to lift weights with great technique and will always be confident in a gym environment.

Keep in mind that kids are still growing and training will be different at each stage of development.

Weights should always be light or moderate, never to failure or exhaustion.

After this they did a game of throwing and catching a medicine ball which resulted in a lot of laughing and rolling about the floor 🀣

Worked hard, had fun. Job done βœ…οΈ

Pleasantly surprised I can still do 5!
Its been YEARS since I did this.

Setting myself a goal of 10.

A strength goal is refreshing because its nothing to do with how you look.

Absolutely delighted with the glow up!

Grateful for my amazing husband for turning this around in a weekend.

Fresh colour and some awesome new equipment.

Mondays are for new beginnings ⭐️

Saturday morning off to a flyer.

This landmine exercise is amazing for arms and core.

The 6ft bar is 15kg plus the 2.5kg plate we added. This is much heavier than I would normally give anyone using a kettlebell.

Tough going for 20 reps πŸ₯΅

Celebrate everything you do.

Even if your workout didn't set the world alight - you made the effort!

If you went over your calories you havnt messed anything up. Just do better tomorrow.

Its never a failure. You either win or you learn.

Be aware of areas you could improve on....but dont beat yourself over the head with a big stick.

Be kind to yourself always.

Making the most of these light weekend mornings when I can get out before the world wakes up.

Step targets have been set for most of my clients this week. This weather makes it so much more enjoyable to get them in!

Friday morning workout.

5k run easy-ish pace.

Then

30 minute AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) of

Slam balls 15
40s battle ropes
Landmine rotations 20
Kettlebell swings 25
Dumb-bell burpees 10
BOSU ball jumps 15

Managed 3 rounds and also managed not to vomit.

Sweaty session today πŸ₯΅

Siobhan doing some shoulder and tricep focused arm work in her session this morning.

23 weeks pregnant.

Since she is very used to lifting weights (and pretty heavy ones at that) we are still able to do a lot of the same exercises as we were before.

The goal is simply now to maintain the strength she has already built.

Having a strong back and shoulders in later pregancy will help to minimise any aches and pains πŸ’ͺ

Keeping a decent amount of muscle mass makes it far easier to shift pregancy weight after the baby is born.

This will also come in handy for lifting car seats and massive bags everywhere she goes!
