So, how many sets per muscle group is best for growth?...

So this really comes down to a number of factors such as:

Your training experience

Your recovery capability

Your weekly schedule (work, etc)

Your job (is it active in nature)

There's no one answer for everyone, but there are some good guidelines to use.

It's been an incredible effort so far from as he prepares for his 1st holiday of the year tomorrow.

The aim was to strip off as much as we could early doors and use calorie borrowing to support Jack's busy social life the past few months, too.

And the result?....

10kg/22lbs down in 18 weeks and 4 inches off his waist.

Calories never dropped below 2100 (exc when borrowing for things).

Training intensity and progression were kept up throughout, too.

A week in the sun now and then back to it before holiday number 2.

"I've tried losing weight, but I think I'm addicted to sugar."

Great news.......YOU'RE NOT!

Nobody is addicted to sugar, as despite some similar behavioural patterns around hyper palatable foods that combine sugar and fats, it simply does have addictive tendencies like alcohol and drugs.

The key is ensuring you have a nutrition set up that is not only in line with your goals.

But also, it is one you enjoy, that doesn't include feelings of restriction, or cravings.

If I had a quid for every time someone told me this, I would be retired already.

Stop expecting the "perfect" time.

Stop expecting a smooth run at it.

Stop expecting to have every box ticked off daily.

IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

That doesn't mean you can't see progress.

Take action, even imperfect action.

Stop hiding behind BS excuses.

You need to STOP wasting money on test booster supplements!

They've been around for years.

They claim to work wonders on total and free testosterone.

But the reality?....

The results in HUMAN clinical trials are either extremely lacking or non-existent.

There is nothing restrictive here, PLUS factoring in holidays, weekends away, and lots of social events.

If you combine that education driven approach, a flexible enough plan, and a dedicated client....

Or the weekly takeaway with the family.

Or the few pints each weekend.

IS IT?

Well, stop complaining about being out of shape.

Stop moaning about not being able to play with your kids without blowing out your hoop after 5 minutes.

Stop whinging about feeling like s**t daily.

OR

Start prioritising your health.

DOMS aren't an accurate gauge of muscle growth.

Might feel cool at the time when you have "been in the trenches" on that leg day 🤣

But if you continually walk like John Wayne (after hes s**t himself), you probably need to take a look at your recovery.

Focus on getting stronger, increasing load/volume over time with locked in form, and you'll grow.

Leave the pain chasing for the morons.

NEVER NEGLECT YOUR FATS......👍🏻

When it comes to structuring your nutrition, everyone tends to focus on protein and carbs initially (and that's fine).

But remember, carbs aren't actually an essential macronutrient.

Fats (and a good variety of them) is key for so many health functions in the body.

"I always get started with the gym and can never stick with it, so I can't see progress."

I think when it comes to working out, or even the nutrition side of it, people view it as a means to an end.

And this is EXACTLY why your results are short-lived.

Find something you enjoy doing.

Find a nutrition set up that suits all aspects of your life (and dont pigeon hole yourself to a specific diet).

Once you accept this is FOR LIFE, you can crack on week to week, month to month, year to year.

Enjoying the journey and seeing those changes when they do come as opposed to being impatient, rushing things, and hating the process.

You owe it to your body to give it your best shot!
