Six out of 10 food workers state that wages are insufficient to meet their basic needs, according to the BFAWU's Food Insecurity and Cost of Living Report 2025.

Meanwhile, three out of 10 say they don't have enough food to properly feed themselves and their families.

These startling findings must serve as an urgent wake-up call to both the UK and Scottish governments.

That's why I've lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament calling on Holyrood to incorporate the human right to food into Scots Law, as suggested in the Right to Food (Scotland) Bill proposed by my colleague Rhoda Grant.
