🌿 Honouring the True New Year 🌿
As we move through the quiet depths of winter, I feel deeply called to remain in stillness — just as nature does.
Before the modern calendar, the New Year was traditionally honoured at the Spring Equinox (around 20–21 March), when light and dark come back into balance and life naturally begins to rise again from the earth.
It wasn’t until the 1500s, with the introduction of the Gregorian calendar, that January 1st became the official New Year. This change was largely made for administrative, religious, and agricultural organisation — not because it aligned with the natural rhythms of the earth, sun, and seasons.
Our bodies, however, still respond to nature’s timing.
Winter was never meant for pushing forward or forcing new beginnings.
It is a sacred time for rest, reflection, integration, and hibernation.
So until the Spring Equinox, I am honouring this natural rhythm — allowing space to soften, listen inward, and replenish. There is no urgency here. Only trust in the cycle.
If you’re feeling tired, unmotivated, or inward right now — you are not behind.
You are simply moving in harmony with nature.
May we all give ourselves permission to pause now, so we can rise gently when the light returns 🌱
With love and gratitude to all my beautiful clients who walk this seasonal journey with me 🤍
