Queerly encounteted is a member-only space for LGBTQ+ therapists in Somerset (and surrounding areas) to come together to network, explore themes within our work, allow space for rest in our practice and connect with nature. Queerly encountered is a free regular (frequency to be decided by members) outdoor meeting in different Somerset locations, open for you to drop in when time allows. This group is self-facilitated and is not a therapy group or supervison group. All participants share equal responsibility for facilitating the group and no one is required to speak. Everyone chooses for themselves how much they want to share.
To ensure there is no overlap in professional boundaries, a list of members will be maintained and shared with anyone who enquires so you can make an informed decision about attending. A WhatsApp group is available for members who want to keep in contact outside of meetings and for sharing resources. Dates, times and locations of meetings will be published in the WhatsApp group or by email for those not wishing to use WhatsApp. The group will always try to ensure accessibility but some locations may vary due to being outdoors. Details of locations and access will be shared in advance of each meeting. Attendance at meetings is at the members' own risk and participants should consider their health & safety, wearing appropriate clothing and footwear.
Members should be willing to:
Treat each other thoughtfully and with respect and hold confidentiality within the group.
Listen with empathic understanding, rather than immediately formulating a response.
Hold one another in a positive light and to try to see things from the other person’s perspective.
Be considerate and honest in what they say about each other, both when we’re together and when we’re not.
