Happy New Year my lovely friends 🥰✨
I’m sending beautiful wishes from me and my thermos flask full of nourishing deliciousness.

Today was one of my classic recipes where you get to make soup with whatever you have available in your fridge WITHOUT stock (I never use stock!) And get it delectably delicious every time 😁✨

How are you faring today, my beautiful friends?

I feel deep gratitude for this time of year.
Nature takes a long inhale.
There is a pause.

Light dances through evergreen leaves.
Winter holds a raw, quiet calm.

As Albert Camus wrote…

“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.”

I feel the aloneness so many carry.
The sadness.
The unfairness.
All while the world tells us how we are supposed to feel.

We have been separated from our tribes.
From nature.
From the sacredness of our lives.
It is not easy being human.

For anyone struggling.
For anyone alone.
For anyone living in unkind circumstances.

Today, and in the days ahead, I am lighting my candles.
Sending out love.
Peace.
Calm.

My prayer for you, beautiful soul.

There is beauty in this world.
Everywhere.
No matter what is happening.

Today I am grateful for the small things.
Sunlight through trees.
Breeze on my hair.
Rose oil soaking into my heart.
Candle flames whispering my name.

There is always something to be grateful for.

Be you.
Always.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it, or fade it, or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own; if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. If you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty even when it is not pretty every day. And if you can source your own life from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, ‘Yes.’

It doesn’t interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments."

Here’s to the returning of the light.
Winter Solstice.

I’m sending you a quiet toast from my solstice walk along the Gower Coast, a cup of fresh ginger and turmeric tea warming my hands. I’m especially holding those of you who are struggling right now, perhaps alone, perhaps moving through something difficult. There’s loads of joy and sparkle in the air but not everyone is experiencing that. If that’s you I’m sending and extra huge squeezy hug 🥰 and love.

Almost here! December 21st at 3.03pm, is the exact moment our precious Earth tilts furthest away from the sun. The shortest day. The longest night. And from here, the light begins its slow return.

I’ve always loved that. Not the sudden arrival of brightness, but the knowing that it has already begun.

Bring on the light 🙏✨✨✨
