✨✨✨ The Importance of Setting Strong Boundaries for Our Mental Health ✨✨✨

As a counsellor, I cannot emphasise enough the crucial role that setting strong boundaries plays in maintaining our mental health.

Boundaries are essential for protecting our wellbeing, fostering healthy relationships, and ensuring we can function at our best.

Setting strong boundaries -

✨ Reduces Stress ✨
Clear boundaries help manage our commitments and time, reducing feelings of overwhelm and burnout. Knowing when to say "no" allows us to prioritise our mental health and personal needs. 🙌

✨ Enhances Self-Esteem✨
By setting boundaries, we affirm our self-worth and communicate our needs and limits to others. This practice builds confidence and reinforces that our feelings and wellbeing are important. 🌟

✨ Improves Relationships✨
Healthy boundaries create mutual respect and understanding in relationships. They help prevent resentment and conflicts, ensuring that interactions are balanced and supportive. 🤝

✨ Encourages Self-Care✨
Boundaries give us the space to engage in activities that rejuvenate us, whether it’s alone time, hobbies, or relaxation. This self-care is vital for maintaining our mental and emotional health. 🫶

Remember, setting boundaries is not about being selfish; it’s about being self-responsible. It’s okay to assert your needs and protect your wellbeing. Let's prioritise our mental health by setting and respecting boundaries!

🤩Happy Friday 🤩

I’ve been thinking about gratitude a lot recently.

In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives or when we feel low or are struggling with our mental health it’s easy to forget to appreciate the little things. When we take the time to stop, think and reflect we realise how truly blessed we are 🙏🏼

This morning whilst out my walk I was considering what I was grateful for today.

A few things are -

❤️ My husband who got up with the dogs letting me get an extra half an hour in bed 😂

🌅 having a nice loch across the road from my house to walk around 🦢 🦆

☀️waking up to the sun shining (always a bonus)☀️

🐩 My 2 daft dogs that always make me laugh with their antics 🐶

What are you grateful for today?

I’ve recently had some more people like/follow/view my page so I thought I’d put a post up to introduce myself and tell you a bit about me.

My name is Ashleigh and I first got interested in Psychology in 2010, I wanted to know more about how the human mind works and why we do the things we do, which is when I decided to study an honours degree in Psychology successfully completing this in 2014. Then life took over, as I’m sure most of you can relate to, Psychology was put on the back burner as I concentrated on the full time job I had at the time with having a mortgage and bills to pay.
Fast forward to 2019, I got a job working for COSCA who are Scotland’s professional body for Counselling & Psychotherapy, I was taking calls from people most days who were looking for information on how they could become counsellors, what courses COSCA validated and what routes they could take. It was at this point I decided that was exactly what I wanted to do so I signed up to my first course and started my journey to becoming a counsellor.

After I completed my diploma in CBT a couple of years ago and became qualified I set up my private practice which I run from my therapy room at the side of my house. I have done more courses since then (in the counselling field there is always more to learn!!) including a course in Couples Therapy using a Transactional Analysis approach.

I love what I do! I enjoy connecting with people, and helping them uncover their own inner resources for development, healing and transformation during what can be some of the most challenging and difficult moments of their lives.

I have recently added extra slots to accommodate more clients – if you would like more information please see my website www.mindsmattertherapy.co.uk

Thanks for reading 😀
