✨What I Want My Clients to Know ✨

One thing I wish more people understood about anxiety:

It often shows up in the people who care the most. 💭
- The deep thinkers.
- The responsible ones.
- The “I’ll just handle it” people.

If that’s you, I want you to hear this from me -
You deserve support too. 🤍

In my practice, I create a space where you don’t have to be the strong one. You don’t have to have the answers. You don’t have to minimise what you’re feeling.
You get to show up exactly as you are!

And together, we’ll build tools and techniques that help you feel calmer, more confident, and less stuck in your head. 🌿

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, maybe this is your sign. ✨

📩 Reach out and let’s talk about what support could look like for you.

🌟 ADHD coaching. 🌟

✨Discovering you have ADHD can be a relief — and also raise new questions about managing life and work in a way that feels right for you.

🫂 ❤️ I’m a neuro-affirmative ADHD coach based in Glenboig, North Lanarkshire, with experience supporting neurodiverse adults and business owners across Scotland and the UK.

While coaching isn’t therapy, my background as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) brings an additional layer of understanding, particularly around emotional regulation — an area that can be challenging for many adults with ADHD.

🧭 Working with an ADHD coach can provide both structure and empathy: support that respects how your mind works, while helping you discover tools that make everyday life more manageable.

Together, we explore what works for you and how to uncover your ADHD superpowers — the creativity, focus, and resilience already within you. 🎯

✨ Coaching isn’t about changing who you are; it’s about understanding yourself more fully and finding ways to thrive.

✨✨✨ The Importance of Setting Strong Boundaries for Our Mental Health ✨✨✨

As a counsellor, I cannot emphasise enough the crucial role that setting strong boundaries plays in maintaining our mental health.

Boundaries are essential for protecting our wellbeing, fostering healthy relationships, and ensuring we can function at our best.

Setting strong boundaries -

✨ Reduces Stress ✨
Clear boundaries help manage our commitments and time, reducing feelings of overwhelm and burnout. Knowing when to say "no" allows us to prioritise our mental health and personal needs. 🙌

✨ Enhances Self-Esteem✨
By setting boundaries, we affirm our self-worth and communicate our needs and limits to others. This practice builds confidence and reinforces that our feelings and wellbeing are important. 🌟

✨ Improves Relationships✨
Healthy boundaries create mutual respect and understanding in relationships. They help prevent resentment and conflicts, ensuring that interactions are balanced and supportive. 🤝

✨ Encourages Self-Care✨
Boundaries give us the space to engage in activities that rejuvenate us, whether it’s alone time, hobbies, or relaxation. This self-care is vital for maintaining our mental and emotional health. 🫶

Remember, setting boundaries is not about being selfish; it’s about being self-responsible. It’s okay to assert your needs and protect your wellbeing. Let's prioritise our mental health by setting and respecting boundaries!

I’ve recently had some more people like/follow/view my page so I thought I’d put a post up to introduce myself and tell you a bit about me.

My name is Ashleigh and I first got interested in Psychology in 2010, I wanted to know more about how the human mind works and why we do the things we do, which is when I decided to study an honours degree in Psychology successfully completing this in 2014. Then life took over, as I’m sure most of you can relate to, Psychology was put on the back burner as I concentrated on the full time job I had at the time with having a mortgage and bills to pay.
Fast forward to 2019, I got a job working for COSCA who are Scotland’s professional body for Counselling & Psychotherapy, I was taking calls from people most days who were looking for information on how they could become counsellors, what courses COSCA validated and what routes they could take. It was at this point I decided that was exactly what I wanted to do so I signed up to my first course and started my journey to becoming a counsellor.

After I completed my diploma in CBT a couple of years ago and became qualified I set up my private practice which I run from my therapy room at the side of my house. I have done more courses since then (in the counselling field there is always more to learn!!) including a course in Couples Therapy using a Transactional Analysis approach.

I love what I do! I enjoy connecting with people, and helping them uncover their own inner resources for development, healing and transformation during what can be some of the most challenging and difficult moments of their lives.

I have recently added extra slots to accommodate more clients – if you would like more information please see my website www.mindsmattertherapy.co.uk

Thanks for reading 😀

Couples Counselling...

Even the happiest of couples will face challenges in life - infertility, mental health concerns, traumatic events, financial issues, the list goes on…
Making it work with another person for the long term requires effort!!

Fortunately, couples therapy can help you learn to communicate effectively with your partner, paving the way for a fulfilling, mutually beneficial relationship.

Couples therapy can -

💜 Improve communication skills
❤️ Build understanding & Empathy in your relationship
💙 Help resolve conflict
💚 Help you work through life’s challenges
💛 Help you recognise the patterns that have been created in your relationship and how to alter those patterns to create a happier, healthier relationship.

How does it work?
I have trained in providing a short term structured program which is based on Transactional Analysis theory and been proven to be popular and successful.

The initial session is a 60 minute assessment with the couple.

If after this assessment the couple are happy to proceed then they can choose to come to see me for a session every two – three weeks for either - 8 sessions lasting 75 minutes each OR 10 sessions lasting 60 minutes each.

🌟 I’m currently offering reduced, introductory prices 🌟

If you feel you would benefit from working with me please send me a message or email me ashleigh@mindsmattertherapy.co.uk to find out more information or to arrange an initial assessment.
