Imagine a world where everyone had access to tools to help them manage, understand and navigate their emotions, find love and confidence in themselves and feel at home in their own body from as young as the age of 3!.. We would have a society that prioritises mental health and emotional well-being, leading to happier and more fulfilled individuals!
Affirmations aren’t just for big people.
Here’s some to try with the Littles ❤️

You are seen, and you are doing an amazing job! 💛
Shout out to all the parents and carers who’ve been quietly holding it together being brave for the little (and big!) ones heading back to school or starting for the very first time.
We all know that the return to school and the shake-up of routine can be tough, sometimes really tough.
But please remember this - the sacrifices you make and the love you give are never wasted.
In the eyes of your child, you are everything.
So if this week feels heavy and you catch yourself thinking you’re not doing enough… stop, take a breath. You’re doing a class job.
You’re awesome. 👏🏻✨

I AM ZEN Kids classes introduce children to the world of mindful movement, promoting physical activity while enhancing their mental well-being.
A fun way for children to connect with their bodies and develop a healthy relationship with movement.
📍Stress busting techniques: Our classes teach valuable stress-management techniques early on. Through gentle yoga poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques, children learn how to navigate stress and cultivate a sense of calm that lasts beyond the class.
📍Boosts Concentration and Focus: Our classes emphasise concentration through various mindfulness activities. These exercises not only enhance attention spans but also provide valuable tools that can be applied to schoolwork and daily tasks.
📍Encourages Self-Expression: Our classes foster creativity and self-expression. Through yoga poses, visualisations, and playful activities, children can express themselves in a non-judgmental and supportive environment, promoting a positive sense of self.
📍Builds Confidence and Self-Esteem: Our classes empower children by encouraging them to explore their capabilities in a nurturing setting. As they master new poses and connect with their breath, their confidence and self-esteem naturally grow, contributing to a positive self-image.
📍Fosters a Lifelong Love for Health and Wellness: Introducing children to yoga at a young age sets the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of health and wellness. I AM ZEN Kids yoga creates a positive association with physical activity and mindfulness, encouraging a healthy lifestyle that can benefit them throughout their lives.
So much more than just a pose 💜

A big thank you to the amazing team of social workers from the Belfast Trust who joined me yesterday for a wellbeing workshop.
We spent the morning slowing down together with breathwork, EFT tapping and gentle yoga. Creating space to pause, reset, and connect. 💛
In the afternoon we explored how yoga, mindfulness, and Six Bricks can positively support children, with plenty of hands-on activities to bring the tools to life. 🧱🌈
I’m always so grateful for opportunities like this to share practical wellbeing practices that can support both professionals and the children & families they work with.
Thank you for showing up with open minds and open hearts 💕
Oh and a shout out to The Wee Bistro for a fab lunch! Highly recommend.

The group will enjoy a 2 hour wellbeing session in the morning of yoga, meditation, breathwork and EFT tapping.
In the afternoon they will take part in some hands on learning as we dive into the benefits of yoga, mindfulness and six bricks for children. The group will take part in some guided activities that they can use in their every day role.
I’m super excited for the day and cannot wait to share some feedback with you all.

Separation anxiety might be a feature with your child as we return to school. I've often used this picture book with children right up to the end of primary school. It's a lovely resource to have at home.
Other ideas to try to ease the separation include giving your child a small physical item of a parent to bring along with them, ie a bracelet of mum's or a photo. Things that can be popped into a pocket or bag work nicely. Or a post- it note in the lunchbox is a simple loving gesture.
A ❤ drawn on a wrist or a spray of perfume also work wonders.
Remember to acknowledge the emotions with your child whilst reassuring them that school is a safe place. Positive words and encouragement at the school gate are so important.

Teaching children to believe in the power of believing in themselves, mind, body and soul.
My name is Katie, owner and founder of I am Zen NI.
I founded I am Zen because of my own passion for mindfulness and yoga which I first discovered the benefits of 7yrs ago after the birth of my 2nd daughter. Totally overwhelmed with the responsibility for two tiny humans I was super anxious.
Anxiety wasn’t a stranger to me, I’d been there before, I’d been there a million times, I was an anxious child who became an anxious teen and then an anxious adult.
Starting yoga, I was quickly hooked!
The time to relax and just simply ‘be’ was invaluable and over time I noticed massive changes personally in how I approached situations in life and how I could put the practices I’d learnt in class into my everyday life. I wish I’d been taught these tools as a child and I knew then that I wanted to teach them to children everywhere. Teach them to believe in the power of believing in themselves, mind, body and soul❤️
Armed with my knowledge for setting up a business I started to look deeper into the benefits of yoga for children, I trained, I practiced and I took support and guidance from the beautiful souls around me and I leaped into the unknown!
I’m so glad I did; I had no idea of the impact I am Zen would make to not only the lives of the children I meet but to their parents, carers, brothers and sisters. I love when someone tells me their child has come home and talked about class or taught their siblings poses and techniques.
It really warms my heart and I will be forever grateful to every single person who has joined me on my journey and believed 🧘♀️🧘♂️🙏🏻❤️
