Sometimes it’s not about doing more…
it’s about creating space to let things go.
Tonight’s teen class was just that 🤍
Yin shapes to soften the body…
A guided body scan to settle the mind…
And quiet journaling to release what was still being carried from the day.
No pressure, no expectations.
Just space to breathe, feel and let go

We've been doing some reflecting, and we've made a few little tweaks to our age group splits to better support your children exactly where they are.
🌱 Minis (Ages 3–7): Playful movement, games, and foundational emotional skills.
🌿 Midis (Ages 8–13): Breathwork, mindfulness, and confidence building.
🌳 Teens (Ages 12+): Advanced mindfulness and a mature creative outlet.
Why are classes split this way? Because a 5-year-old navigating big emotions needs different tools than a 13-year-old managing academic stress and screen fatigue.
By refining our age groups, we can go deeper into the specific practices that will help each child learn to self-regulate and slow down.
Our classes remain small, safe, and incredibly welcoming.

TOE-GA in action 👣🌈
Tiny feet, big focus.
Picking up pom poms, balancing and strengthening little bodies while calming busy minds.
Playful… but powerful 💫
It isn’t all downward facing dog 🙋🏼♀️

Is this your child?
✨ They don’t love sports or busy clubs
✨ They enjoy LEGO, building, puzzles and boardgames
✨ They’d love connection… just in a calmer way
introducing the Calm Connections Club
A small, supportive space where children can,
Play
Connect
Build confidence
No pressure, no competition, just connection, their way.
Today at Calm Create Club we stepped into our Andy Warhol era…
Bold colours ✔️
No rules ✔️
Total creative freedom ✔️
Every piece is completely different, completely unique… and that’s exactly the point 🤍
Because this isn’t about getting it “right”
It’s about expressing yourself, building confidence, and having the freedom to just create.
And just look at what happens when you give children that space… ✨
Pure colour.
Pure confidence.
Pure joy. 🌈

I’ve worked hard to meet this version of me.
She’s softer … but stronger
Calmer … but still not quiet 🤫 💁🏼♀️

"My child feels things very deeply."
Big emotions, busy minds, sensitive hearts.
Children who feel deeply need the tools to help them understand what’s happening inside their bodies and minds.
Through yoga, mindfulness, creativity and play, we help children learn how to:
✨ recognise emotions
✨ calm their nervous system
✨ build confidence
✨ feel safe being themselves
These are life skills. And they change everything!

Why mindfulness matters for children . . .
Children experience stress too.
School pressure,
friendship worries,
busy schedules.
But unlike adults, they often don’t yet have the tools to process those feelings.
Mindfulness helps children learn to,
✨ pause
✨ breathe
✨ understand their emotions
✨ regulate their nervous system

Big feelings don’t need fixing…
they need understanding 🤍

There’s a common misconception about children’s yoga. People often picture quiet rooms, stretching, and kids trying to balance on one leg.
While we do love a good tree pose, what actually happens inside an I Am Zen class is something much more profound.
We are creating a safe space where children learn:
🧠 How their brain and body physically respond to stress.
🫁 How the simple act of breathing can calm their biggest, most overwhelming emotions.
💛 How to sit with their feelings and understand them, rather than fearing them.
🤝 How to connect with the world and others with kindness and confidence.
Yes, there is plenty of movement. Yes, there is so much play. Yes, the room is filled with laughter.
But underneath all of that joy, we are quietly helping them build a toolkit for life.
That’s the real magic of I Am Zen. ✨
What is one tool you wish you had learned as a child? Let me know in the comments! 👇

May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelions, the worms & spiderlings.
Children who sense that the rose needs the thorn & run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun.
And when they’re grown, and someone has to speak for those who have no voice, may they draw upon that wilder bond of tending tender things and be the ones 💜

Teaching children to believe in the power of believing in themselves, mind, body and soul.
My name is Katie, owner and founder of I am Zen NI.
I founded I am Zen because of my own passion for mindfulness and yoga which I first discovered the benefits of 7yrs ago after the birth of my 2nd daughter. Totally overwhelmed with the responsibility for two tiny humans I was super anxious.
Anxiety wasn’t a stranger to me, I’d been there before, I’d been there a million times, I was an anxious child who became an anxious teen and then an anxious adult.
Starting yoga, I was quickly hooked!
The time to relax and just simply ‘be’ was invaluable and over time I noticed massive changes personally in how I approached situations in life and how I could put the practices I’d learnt in class into my everyday life. I wish I’d been taught these tools as a child and I knew then that I wanted to teach them to children everywhere. Teach them to believe in the power of believing in themselves, mind, body and soul❤️
Armed with my knowledge for setting up a business I started to look deeper into the benefits of yoga for children, I trained, I practiced and I took support and guidance from the beautiful souls around me and I leaped into the unknown!
I’m so glad I did; I had no idea of the impact I am Zen would make to not only the lives of the children I meet but to their parents, carers, brothers and sisters. I love when someone tells me their child has come home and talked about class or taught their siblings poses and techniques.
It really warms my heart and I will be forever grateful to every single person who has joined me on my journey and believed 🧘♀️🧘♂️🙏🏻❤️
