Fife schools are now back and you may find you have a little extra time on your hands? With the little ones back in the classroom, why not fill your time doing something truly rewarding?

We’re looking for compassionate, reliable individuals to join our care professional team. Whether you’re looking for part-time hours during the day, evening work, or weekend we have part time positions available. At Home Instead East Fife we offer:

✅ Minimum 1-hour visits – no rushing, spending quality time

🚨 Know the Signs of a TIA – It Could Save a Life

A Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA), sometimes called a “mini-stroke,” is caused by a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain. Symptoms can come on suddenly and disappear within minutes or hours. A TIA is a serious warning sign of a possible future stroke.

⚠️ Common symptoms include:
• Sudden weakness or numbness (often on one side of the body)
• Difficulty speaking or understanding speech
• Sudden vision loss or blurred vision
• Dizziness or loss of balance
• Sudden, severe headache with no known cause

Even if symptoms disappear, call 999 immediately — every minute counts.

Our Home Instead Charities provide grants to local community groups around the UK that help prevent loneliness in the Elderly.

1 in 3 adults over 65 fall at least once a year and that risk increases with age. With so many factors being the contributing factor to this. But falling doesn’t have to be part of getting older.

Take a walk through your home and look for simple hazards:
✔ Loose rugs
✔ Cluttered walkways
✔ Poor lighting
✔ Unstable furniture

Think to yourself:
✔️ Am I hydrated enough?
✔️Could I be dizzy because of new medication

Small adjustments can make a big difference to safety and confidence at home, and sometimes it could be the smallest of things needing adjusted.

We think we need to start a weekly post called Jane’s Jaunts 😂

Last week Jane and her client went to Kirkcaldy gallery and museum on their one hour visit.

Jane had mentioned it a few times and when she suggested doing it last week her client was really enthusiastic about going. Because there is so much to see they only managed the museum part so the gallery can be a trip another day 🙂

Jane told us “My client loved it, she really is a joy to take out”

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for high winds across much of Scotland for for today and Wast Fife is one of the affected areas.

The amber warning is in force between 10am until 10pm on today. Further yellow warnings are also in place.

Everyone should ensure -

• Make sure your mobile phone is charged

• Have plenty of fuel, warm clothing, food, and water in case you’re delayed

• Do not ignore road closure signs – they are there for your safety

• Listen to media broadcasts, including radio, for updates

• Follow your local authority for the latest

Those in amber alert areas may experience power outages. For advice, visit Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks on X for up to date advice.

Do you remember last week Jane went with her client to the Buffalo Farm? Well this week Jane had mentioned the murals down Kirkcaldy High Street to her client and they went to see it during their visit 🥰

The benefit of providing the same care professional to our clients for their visits is that they can build up a relationship and really get to know each other, meaning when our Care professionals need to suggest options of where to go and what to do, they are fully loaded with the knowledge of what will be best for our clients ❤️
