🏌️ Steve Donnelly Golf Memorial Shield 🏌️‍♂️

We would like to extend a sincere thanks to all who organised, participated, and donated to the Steve Donnelly Golf Memorial Shield event which took place on 24th April 2026.

Steve volunteered for DSF back in its infancy in the 1990's under Richard Brickley and Richard donated the shield that is now played for each year. The event is now in its 10th year of raising money for local charities and this year they very kindly chose DSF as their chosen charity 🙏🏻🤩

DSF Trustee member David Brown attended to accept the donation.

Thank you to all who contributed 🏌️⛳️🏆

Talented young Scottish swimmer from the early years has passed away

Disability Sport Fife has recently learned of the passing of one of Scotland's most talented all round junior female Para athletes. Those of us who knew and had the privilege to work alongside Michelle extend condolences to Michelle Main's family and friends.

Michelle came from Glasgow and was a member of Temple Swimming Club and the Scottish Spina Bifida Association. Michelle was a former pupil of Ashcraig school and a regular member of the Scottish Junior Swim team that travelled annually to Stoke Mandeville and Darlington. Michelle was greatly influenced and supported by the late Bob Mitchell and SSBA/Temple stalwart Ricky McMahon.

Michelle was a regular attendee at Tulliallan multi sports weekends where she excelled in a range of sports. Swimming was however her first love and the highlight of her career was travelling to Miami in 1989 for the World Youth Games as a member of Team Scotland. Michelle was an incredibly talented and popular young sportswoman who was full of fun but fully committed to training and competing.

In Miami, Michelle won gold medals in 50m back, 25m Free, 50m Free and 100m Free. Michelle also won silver in 100m track and bronze in 60m track. Overall Team Scotland contested 160 individual events in swimming, athletics and table tennis and won 125 titles - remarkable achievement for the 27 Para athlete squad.

The early years of SSAD/SDS produced many talented all round juniors who excelled across a range of sports. Michelle was up their with the best and there is no doubt she will be remembered and missed by athletes, coaches and volunteers throughout Scotland and beyond. Michelle is seated on the left on the second row in the magnificent Miami team photo. There will be many who are sad to learn of the passing of a great Scottish junior Para sportsperson.
