When life is making things tough for you
Grow.
When you break into a thousand pieces and your scattered shards are all over the floor.

Gather the shapes and plaster them back together.

I am...

I’m Laurie, owner and Therapist at Simply Scentered Holistic Therapies. Born in Fife where I spent the first 9 years of my life, later moving over the bridge to “the other side” for almost 30 years before returning again to my roots. Quite possibly the biggest and best decision of my entire life, because it wasnt until I returned “home” that I was presented with the opportunity to set up my business and finally be who I strongly believe, I was on this planet to be.

Rewind a little though, back to 2009, my life wasn’t perfect back then but I was married and had my 8 year old daughter. I had a regular, safe job that I enjoyed, working as a Learning and Development Coach within a multi-media contact centre and had been there for 15 years. During my time there, I met some amazing people, some of those people saw me through some crazy “firsts” in my life as well, including my marriage, motherhood, divorce and depression, for that, I will be forever grateful to those who helped get me through the tough times.

2009 to 2010 was my year to fall apart. My entire world came undone before me in a few short months when i was faced with redundancy, marriage breakdown and a major back operation. Looking back now though, this was actually the year I was reborn. Reinvented. Given another chance. Whatever it was, it was a massive turning point in my life and for amazing things to happen, a lot of the time, things need to fall apart before that can happen.

It is during that time that I decided to study Beauty Therapy. I wasn’t really in the position to start working again and recovering from my back operation meant I couldn’t stay seated all day every day. So it was very much a “now or never” decision and having already had an interest from such a young age in healing through Reiki and crystals, it seemed the obvious choice at the time. I later graduated with an A Grade HND qualification in Beauty Therapy giving me a huge variety of skills including spa therapies, complimentary therapies, beauty therapies and some relevant business knowledge.

Fast forward to 2018 when Simply Scentered was born, having worked at a few salons and spas, throughout college and afterwards, I had already gained a good understanding of how I wanted to serve my customers/clients. It became obvious when working for others that I wasn’t able to provide a service that “I wanted” to. So, at what was yet another massive turning point in my life, and faced with redundancy once again, I had a choice. I either found another job, working in another salon, for someone else who didn’t quite provide a service that I was set out on my life’s path to do, or, I set up my own place.

I think you can guess what I did...

My business, Simply Scentered Holistic Therapies is born from honesty, trust, professionalism and as I have already mentioned, an absolute life long passion to help others heal and to feel good about themselves. I will only ever treat with compassion, kindness and the utmost respect and I will handle your situation with complete confidentiality and I will do my very best to help you find a resolution to your problems through mind, body and soul healing.

My practice is tucked away from the noise of the High Street in Leslie and my “safe space” is purely for the therapies that I provide. This means that there should be no outside interruptions and you can make the most of the quiet, calm surroundings from the minute you arrive.

When you arrive, I will guide you to the therapy room for your consultation which I try to keep as informal as possible. There will be questions about your health, any ongoing conditions, your lifestyle and diet, your medication, operations etc. This conversation needs to take place, not only for insurance purposes, but to make sure your aims can be met and to tailor the treatment to your specific needs. Once your treatment plan has been agreed, I will explain what happens next and you will be left to prepare. The lighting will be dimmed (if required) and your treatment will begin. I’m certain you will feel refreshed and recharged afterwards, not to mention relaxed and rested. What more could you want?

Products - for face and body therapies my primary brand is Eve Taylor (London) which is aromatherapy based and natural.

Services - I offer a variety of services at Simply Scentered which incorporate mind, body and soulful therapies. This is to ensure that you are provided with an overall “holistic” experience, ultimately giving you best possible resolution during your visit. I work with your mind through Meditations, Mindset and Confidence Coaching, Hypnotherapy and Life Coaching. For your body and the physical symptoms, I provide Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Hopi Ear Candles and Massage (hot stone, swedish, remedial, deep tissue, aromatherapy, oncology) and for the more soulful therapies where I work on your energy field balancing your vibrations and chakra system, I use Crystal Therapy and Reiki. I also teach Reiki and Meditation as well as provide Business Coaching and Mentorship.
