I get it. You’ve got reflux and you feel as though EVERYTHING gives you reflux. It can be a total living nightmare (I suffered for over 5 years with debilitating reflux so I know all too well how awful it can be)
And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but chocolate sadly is one of the WORST offenders when it comes to reflux. BUT WHY?? *sad face*
Chocolate contains both caffeine and cocoa….and sadly, both of these actually weaken the lower esophageal sphincter. SO if you’re already dealing with a weakness here, chocolate will weaken it even further!
Not only this, but cocoa can also slow gastric emptying….which leads to upper gut fermentation….which leads to reflux.
BUT IT DOESN’T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE THIS WAY! You can get on top of your reflux and eat chocolate again. You just need the right support. That’s where I come in!
