Meningitis B (MenB) Vaccination – Important Update

Following a recent meningitis outbreak, the MenB vaccine is now being offered to additional eligible groups across the country to help prevent increased risk.
This means that the Men B vaccination has been extended to anyone who has been offered preventative antibiotics as part of this outbreak response, including:
• Students normally living on the University of Kent – Canterbury Campus (including those who have since returned home)
• Some staff living or working in affected university accommodation
• Students at other Canterbury universities who were advised to take antibiotics due to close contact
• Individuals who attended Club Chemistry between 5 March and 16 March
• Certain sixth form or school year groups in Kent where cases have been identified (these groups are being contacted directly)
This list may expand further as more information becomes available.
✅ If you have been advised to take antibiotics or told you are eligible, you can receive the MenB vaccine at the surgery
Please contact the practice as soon as possible to arrange vaccination or to check if you are eligible if you are unsure.
Thank you for helping us protect our community 💙
