Myth: not moving or not doing any exercises will help with pain.

Truth: in the majority of cases, this is wrong. Gentle stretching and movement can help with muscle tension. Exercises which you enjoy release endorphins, which is a feel-good hormone. So the message is move, and if you are not sure talk to your instructor.

One of the most common barriers to people not trying yoga is a lack of flexibility.
You do not need to be flexible to do yoga - far from it. All you need is to be interested in trying it out.
Yoga will help stretch and strengthen you, it will help you switch from the sympathetic nervous system to the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps with relaxation.
