A gentle neuromuscular practice which re-educates the neural pathways of the fight or flight response. Lying in a quiet, relaxed environment and learning how to get out of pain or restrictive muscle patterns, it releases blocks and tension in the muscles caused by trauma, injuries or repetitive postural habits. Increasing your range of movement and therefore performance. Your health and wellbeing are affected by physical, mental and emotional stress. They are all interconnected. Incorporating all of these into your life in equal measure will help you notice how much more you can achieve for yourself. You will gain a better understanding of how your hopes, fears, and anxieties affect the tension in your body and you will learn how to release it permanently. FUNCTIONAL & PRACTICAL PERSONAL TRAINING
Often the source of recurrent physical issues is a chronic lack of movement. When you reconnect with your body’s natural movement abilities – everything from exercise, to getting out of bed to moving furniture, to family play, will feel different. Could you break down a squat, overhead press, or more importantly a core exercise to really feel the body's whole system working?

Somatic class in Charlton Kings this morning, really got us to notice how we can move from the ribcage, waist and back to move the rest of the body.

We notice how little effort it was to move the shoulders and hips when we move from the centre. Breaking a bigger movement down really makes you conscious of where you get stuck. Brain challenge this morning!!

How many times have you attended an exercise class or had a session with a massage therapist and felt the freedom and difference in your body and notice how easily your body moves.
Only to find you slide back into stiff and sore movement patterns as you haven’t been able to replicate the treatment yourself.

Somatic Movement Class in Charlton Kings this morning - focussed on allowing us to work with our trauma reflex. What can you do to bring healthy movement back into your life?

If you could go from not moving to moving, or from pain to less pain – or no pain at all what other possibilities are there in your life?

Taking time to sense how it feels to move - allows you to notice what shows in your life and how you react to it. Both physically and mentally. "I am sore or I have pain here or there”, “I realise I hold my head, neck, back tight because…”

The challenges of the day are part of the somatic process of living. Take time to be more aware - be willing and open to change. This is where you will learn.

We often discover that deeper lessons occur, mentally, emotionally, as well as physically when we ask ourselves - what can I let go of?

The problem is, there is confusion between what we sense on the inside and how we choose to act based on outside influences and we become stuck. In somatic movement we call this Sensory Motor Amnesia.

If we learn to develop an easier flow through all the elements of our life. We enhance the vitality of human life - physically, mentally, emotionally.

Did you ever wonder why animals pandiculate up to 40 times a day in the wild? Tigers, lions, big apes, and horses – all powerfully strong creatures – pandiculate reflexively in order to be fully in control of their muscular system; their lives depend on it.

Somatic Movement is probably the best and smartest practice you could ever do before engaging in strength training.

Somatic Movement and pandiculation prepare you to move well in any and all activities by reducing excess tension in your sensory motor system so that you can train your muscles in the most efficient manner.

In essence, Somatic Movements improve the ability to sense the muscles you are strengthening.

If you want to maintain as well as improve your strength consider incorporating a short Somatic Movement routine before you train and follow your training with a short practice to reset and deactivate the muscles you just worked out.
