Saturday afternoon got wonderfully messy… just the way the best activities usually do! 🎨
With the help of our lovely new volunteer Ashley, we decided to roll up our sleeves and try our hands at a bit of paper mâché. The plan? To create some handmade bowls — although at the start we weren’t entirely sure if we’d end up with beautiful bowls or just a very sticky table! 😄
Armed with balloons, strips of paper, and plenty of glue, everyone got involved layering the paper carefully over the balloons. There were a few giggles along the way, some very gluey fingers, and the occasional debate about whether we needed “just one more layer” for good measure. Safe to say it was a proper hands-on afternoon!
By the end of the session, we had done a fantastic job and managed to cover the balloons in a couple of sturdy layers. Now comes the hard part… waiting for them to dry! Once they’re ready, we’ll be cutting them open and giving them a splash of colour with some paint.
We’re all very excited to see how they turn out, so keep an eye on this space — we’ll be sharing the finished results soon. Fingers crossed for some very impressive bowls! 🤞✨
