For many families, the search for care doesn’t start with a clear plan. It often begins with a quiet worry. Mum’s becoming a bit unsteady. Dad seems more withdrawn. You find yourself checking in more often, doing more, thinking more. And somewhere in the background, a question starts to form – do we need to think about care?

It’s important to know this: residential care is rarely the first step. There are many ways to put support in place long before a move into a care home feels right, and understanding those options can bring a sense of calm at a time that often feels uncertain.

🎶 Music & Movement Fun! 🎶
Sue was back last week for another Music and Movement session! It was a smaller group this time – maybe those January blues are trying to sneak in 😉 but they definitely didn’t stop us!

We had the musical instruments out 🎵, the pom-poms flying 💃, and of course Sue made sure she spent time with everyone. Smiles, movement, and great vibes all around!

We can’t wait for the next session – roll on the fun! 🌈🎶

Weekly Visit Fun! 🎉
We had our weekly visit from the lovely students from Ribston School, and this week they brought a quiz with them! 🧠✨ Residents teamed up with the students and waited eagerly for the quiz masters to fire off the questions.

It was very competitive at times but full of laughter throughout — a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all! 😄

Next week the students have promised to bring along some bingo, and we absolutely love a bit of bingo, so we’re already looking forward to it! 🎱❤️

🎻 Wednesday’s Special Treat! 🎶
Last Wednesday we enjoyed something a little different when a talented violinist came out to play for us. Our residents seemed to really enjoy the music, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles!

She even brought bells for everyone to ring so we could join in the fun and be part of the music. It was a joyful, interactive experience that filled the room with laughter and song. ✨🔔

🎄 Christmas Day had finally arrived, and the celebrations began! 🎄
We kicked off the day by helping Rose, Shelia, and Jean open their gifts from family and friends. They did a brilliant job unwrapping and were absolutely delighted with everything they received.

A big thank you to Jeremiah, who once again kindly gave us a beautiful Church Service, and for offering Holy Communion to those who wished to take part—it was a very special and meaningful moment for everyone involved.

Next, it was time to prepare for lunch. Two tables were set up to make things comfortable and accessible for our residents in wheelchairs. We added our homemade centrepieces to finish the look, and they really brought the tables to life—looking simply lovely!

Before we knew it, dinner time had arrived. Everyone gathered together to enjoy a delicious Christmas feast lovingly prepared by our fabulous cook, Donna. To make things extra special, there was a little festive tipple on offer—cheeky Baileys or a warming sherry for those who fancied one.

Of course, no Christmas would be complete without crackers! We pulled them with glee and wore our paper crowns proudly—Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without them.

After letting our lunch settle, it was time for presents once again. Each resident received a small gift from the house, and many of them turned out to be just perfect—exactly what was needed. An unexpected gift is always such a lovely surprise.

All in all, it was a truly wonderful day filled with joy, laughter, and festive cheer—and now we’re ready to welcome in the New Year! ✨🎉

Wednesday we were treated to even more festive cheer thanks to the magic of Facebook! The lovely Debbie and Paul popped in to sing for us, and what a treat it was 🎶

We enjoyed all the classic Christmas favourites, followed by some absolute golden oldies that had everyone smiling and singing along. As always, our Rose stole the show as dancing queen 💃 — and even Joyce couldn’t resist getting up for a little boogie!

We absolutely love it when members of our community give up their free time to come and visit and spread some joy. A huge thank you to Debbie and Paul — you made our day extra special ❤️🎄

We are officially in full Christmas mode! 🎅🎄
Today we’ve been out foraging to make our very own table centrepieces – and what a lovely time we had! With fresh greenery, flowers, berries and a touch of mistletoe, we got creative and set to work. If we do say so ourselves, they’re pretty impressive for our first attempt! 🌿🌸

The festive fun continued as the lovely Mary treated us to a Christmas poem while we worked… and then put us to the test by having us recite it back to her! 📜🎶

To top it all off, we had a surprise visit from Santa himself, spreading Christmas cheer and smiles to all our residents 🎅❤️

We wrapped up our festive week — and the year — in the best possible way with our final session with the lovely Sue 🎄✨ As always, she arrived full of Christmas magic, dressed head-to-toe in festive sparkle and instantly bringing smiles to everyone’s faces 😄

Out came the balloons, parachute, and instruments as we sang, danced, and laughed our way through the session 🎈🥁🎶. The room was full of energy, music, and festive cheer as everyone joined in and soaked up the fun.

After lunch, we were treated to a fabulous mini concert with another round of Christmas favourites 🎤🎄. There was plenty of singing along, foot tapping, hand clapping, and pure enjoyment all round — and of course, Rose was up on her feet dancing and loving every minute 💃❤️

We couldn’t let New Year be forgotten, so we made sure to practise Auld Lang Syne 🎆🤝 — holding hands with the person next to us and sharing a lovely moment together, ready to welcome the year ahead.

Following a well-earned cuppa and a slice of cake ☕🍰, we couldn’t resist having a bit more fun with the Snapchat filters 📸😂. There were lots of laughs, funny faces, and everyone happily joining in, ending the day on a high.

A truly heart-warming, fun-filled, and festive way to close out the year ❤️✨

What a wonderfully festive week once again! 🎅🎄 We absolutely love this time of year — yes, it’s busy, but it’s full of fun, laughter and Christmas cheer!

We wrapped up our final session of the year with the lovely Matt, and you could definitely tell Christmas is just around the corner… the residents were already in full holiday mode! 🎁 It was a quieter session, but still lots of smiles and fun to be had. The squishy balls made another appearance, and as always, some creative residents invented their own exercises — we love that energy! 💪😄

We were then delighted to welcome students from Ribston Hall High School, who treated us to a beautiful mini Christmas concert 🎶✨ From choir performances to solos, duets and instrumental pieces, the talent on display was amazing. The students had clearly worked hard to put together a wonderful routine, and it was an absolute joy to watch and listen.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the concert and were more than happy to hand out some well-deserved chocolates as a thank you 🍫💖

We truly love working with local schools and building these special relationships with students — already looking forward to the next visit! 🎄🎶

What to do on a quiet day? Oh yeah… have some fun with Snapchat filters! 🎄😂
I went around snapping pics with a Christmas-themed filter and the laughs were nonstop. Some people couldn’t believe it was them — but we definitely had a blast playing around. Sometimes it’s the smallest things that bring us the most joy ✨📸
