☀️ Heatwave Advice from Redlands Acre Care Home....
With temperatures soaring this week, it's more important than ever to take extra care in the heat – especially for the elderly and young children, who can be more vulnerable during hot weather.
Here at Redlands Acre Care Home, we’re putting every measure in place to keep our residents safe, cool, and comfortable. Here are some top tips for everyone during the heatwave:
💧 Stay Hydrated – Offer water regularly, even if they don’t feel thirsty. Little and often is key.
🧊 Cool Snacks – Ice lollies, chilled fruit, and light meals help keep temperatures down.
🏡 Shaded Spaces – Stay out of direct sunlight between 11am and 3pm. We’re making use of shaded garden areas and cool indoor rooms.
🪭 Fans & Ventilation – Use fans and open windows (when cooler outside) to keep air circulating.
👚 Dress Lightly – Loose, breathable fabrics and sun hats help regulate body temperature.
🧴 Sun Protection – Don’t forget sunscreen and protective clothing if heading outside.
We’re also checking in regularly on residents and encouraging rest, hydration, and light activities.
Please check in on elderly neighbours and keep little ones cool too. Let’s look after each other during the warm days ahead. 💙
