Over summer I plan on taking some time to assess my digital footprint 👣 as we all know I’m not much of a social media fan - I keep posts to maybe one per week sometimes less.

I am thinking about updating my website, I’ve started podcasting this year (which I actually really enjoy so keep your eyes peeled for those!).

Is there anything you’d like to see from me digitally? I’m open to ideas but they’d have to work round my busy schedule 🤓 💻

What does Katy’s week look like… 💭

☑️ 28 patient this week
☑️ two GP referrals
☑️ occupational letter about modified duties
☑️ MRI referral
☑️ research day (picture below 👇)
☑️ walking rugby (I played - bloody loved it!)
☑️ marked two undergrad dissertations
☑️ helped support a research ethics review
☑️ in between fit life in… exercise, eating well and sleep! And of course all the boring house chores 😴

No two weeks are ever the same, but I can always guarantee busy! Now for a rest before I do it all again next week ❤️ To all the Dads and father figures out there, have a wonderful Father’s Day 🙌

Much love, Bouncing Back 🤸🏼‍♂️

ANNUAL LEAVE 4th - 9th JUNE 2025 🧘
I am away for a few days taking a rest from my 14 hour work days, I will respond to messages on return. Anything urgent give me a bell this evening to discuss. This a reminder to all you lovely humans to rest too 🩵

😴 Rest is essential for your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Here's why it's so important:

💪 Physical Recovery
- Muscle repair and growth: During sleep and rest, your body repairs tissues and builds muscle. This is especially important after physical activity.
- Immune system function: Rest helps strengthen your immune system, making it easier to fight off illness.

🧠 Cognitive Function
- Memory consolidation: Your brain processes and stores information during sleep. Without rest, learning and memory suffer.
- Focus and decision-making: Tiredness leads to poor concentration, slower reaction times, and impaired judgment.

🧘Mental Health
- Stress reduction: Rest lowers cortisol (stress hormone) levels and helps regulate mood.
- Emotional regulation: Chronic lack of rest can increase irritability, anxiety, and risk of depression.

⛽ Energy Restoration
- Replenishes energy stores: Rest recharges your body’s energy systems, making you feel refreshed and capable.
- Prevents burnout: Taking breaks helps prevent physical and mental exhaustion over time.

🏆 Productivity and Performance
- Sustainable work habits: Regular rest leads to better long-term performance and creativity.
- Avoids mistakes: Fatigue increases the risk of errors and accidents.

In short, rest isn’t a luxury—it's a biological need. Think of it as maintenance time for your body and mind to stay sharp, strong, and balanced.

Client feedback ⭐ thank you so much for this honest feedback! A little reminder to us all to be honest about our overall health, it's so important 💖

"I have been seeing Katy, for a while now to treat a knee injury which has been preventing me from running as freely as I would normally. My knee has steadily improved but more recently another issue has inhibited my running. I found that I was experiencing issues with bladder continence which really impacted my confidence with getting back to any sort of distance. I found that I would get towards the end of a short run and have to rush to the toilet, not always easy to achieve! I felt a bit awkward telling Katy but I really didn’t want this to be such an issue and I’m so glad I did. She immediately picked up that this was a barrier to my recovery and she incorporated this into a holistic assessment, offered advice and a plan to help me improve my pelvic muscle strength. It’s early days yet but already I have got into the rhythm of daily pelvic floor exercises and become more mindful of bladder training. Last week I completed a 5k and didn’t rush to the bathroom when I got back. I can’t thank Katy enough for giving me the tools to manage something which was preventing me from enjoying a sport I have loved for many years."

Even better yet - I went to a 'menopause matters' talk at Nuffield last week and I am feeling even more armed to use evidence based advice 💪

I have been quiet on social media, apologies for that! Two reasons; I’m a bit of an old fashioned gal, I like face to face chatting and not such a big fan of social media interactions! Two, I’ve been REALLY busy!

So let me tell you a little about what’s been keeping me busy!
- Firstly of course, you wonderful lot!! I love you all! Post op rehab, young, old, pro athlete, amateur - this involves rehab, treatment and referrals - busy busy!
- Secondly my prof doc - very full on with ethics and approvals! But I am loving the challenge!
- Thirdly, my prof doc topic has opened up some exciting opportunities including being on a scrutiny panel for engagement within my profession and national meetings about MSK health inequalities community of practice.
- Then me! All my learning! Today whilst doing admin I have been listening to pelvic health learning. I have a pregnancy massage course booked for the summer! And of course just me; horse riding, padel, hiking, badminton, martial arts, yoga, baking and gardening etc etc. practise what you preach 🩵 because I'm busy I need to keep myself well!
- Finally, expanding the business (buying a premise) is ongoing, when there is a real update you’ll be the first to know!
