👧🏼Did you know kids of all ages can get growing pains? 🧒🏾
As osteopaths, we keep a check on them - particularly during growth spurts.
😣 Often ‘growing pains’ are more common in the legs around the backs of the ankles and front of the knees.
This is because the long bones are growing so quickly, the muscles just need a bit of time to catch up 😅
This can cause a bit of pulling in the muscle attachment and cause some aching to your little (not so little) one 💙
This can also be more common in kids who are quite sporty 🏈
Whilst growing pains are completely normal, especially during big growth spurts - osteopathy can help reduce the aching through soft tissue techniques and stretching the muscles.
You may also notice your little one is a little bit more clumsy, that’s all part of growing - and we can offer exercises to help strengthen their proprioception and prevent injury.
🚩Some growing conditions are a little bit more serious: If we are worried, we will recommend you follow up 3-6 months time or refer you to your GP.
These may include: scoliosis, Osgood-schlatters, severs to name a few.
But we are here to support you and your child along the way 🙌🏾
