What is Osteopathy? Osteopathy is a holistic therapy that uses a range of principles and looks at the body as a whole. The aim is to help the body to heal by improving circulation, lymphatic drainage and the nervous system using a variety of osteopathic techniques. For musculoskeletal aches and pains

caused by daily activites, tension, postural problems or sports injuries. Drop into the clinic where a variety of osteopathic techniques will be used to help aid your recovery and help alleviate your aches and pains. Your First Appointment:

Your first appointment will be around an hour. A thorough case history will be taken, this helps to pinpoint the cause of the problem aswell as making sure you are safe to treat and there is not an underlying problem that needs further investigation. You will then be asked to dress down to your underwear (or minimal clothing if preferred). Your posture will be assessed and a few tests will be carried out to determine what exactly is causing the pain. If it is safe, we will continue with treatment and discuss a treatment plan.

Alzheimer’s is a cause close to my heart, after the death of my grandfather who had dementia and watching my gran fade away into a person I hardly recognise the past 10 years following her diagnose of Alzheimer’s.
Having been through the struggles from diagnosis, to getting the correct support and services as well as watching the person you love fade away…Charities such as help to provide information and support to those with the condition as well as to their families and loved ones.

Our event will be held at the beautiful, historic in Gloucester.

I see soooo many desk workers with repetitive strain injury, wrist, elbow and shoulder issues 😣

A lot of us are at work 8 hours a day, using desk set ups that aren’t ideal as well as equipment that over time irritates tendons and other structures in our body.

🍃 Ways you can naturally lower inflammation levels in your body 🍃

*Disclaimer: This post is aimed at more chronic inflammation levels (longer lasting) for acute inflammation follow R.I.C.E -rest, ice, compression and elevation*

🍃Improve your sleep quality and make sure you get enough

🍃Avoid/ limit alcohol 🍺 - alcohol is high in sugars and dehydrating which can increase inflammation levels

🍃Reduce sugar and red meat intake - studies have found sugar and compounds found in red meat to increase inflammatory markers

🍃Reduce your stress 😅 - what small thing could you say no to that would cut down your stress

🍃Manage your stress more effectively - we will always have stress in our lives, but how could you manage it more effectively ?
Set your self up for the day by stretching for 15 mins before you get going, take 10 mins to breathe and allow your nervous system to level out, sit outside for 20mins with your phone off and allow yourself to disconnect - find something that works for you.

🍃Drink 2-3 litres of water a day to help keep your bodies cells working at optimal capacity 💧

🙌🏾Keep moving
🙌🏾Eat a healthy, balanced diet high in protein and omega’s
🙌🏾Keep hydrated
🙌🏾Quit smoking
🙌🏾Avoid repetitive, over loading of the body (especially in awkward positions)
When I say over loading - I don’t mean ‘loading’ in a normal lifting weights way - generally if you have to use a brace or support to lift a weight, your body isn’t currently strong enough to support that load. 🙄(Ready for the haters)
This could apply in work in manual jobs too - keep healthy and strong to make sure your body is prepped for purpose 💪🏾

Bone is a living tissue - don’t forget even if you are at risk there are lots of modifiable factors 😊

Even if you are already osteoporotic or osteopoenic there are numerous ways lifestyle changes, including diet and exercise, quitting smoking, supplements and sunlight exposure can help you - as well as some medication perhaps your GP has prescribed.

Research has shown that people are actually able to reverse their osteoporosis following a strengthening exercise programme and modifying their lifestyle 🙌🏾🦴

If you are worried you may be at risk of osteoporosis, please speak to your osteopath or GP ☺️

Osteopathy is a holistic treatment that looks at the body as a whole.
(No, we’re not just bones 🦴😅)

Using a case history, diagnostic testing and palpation the osteopath will come to a working diagnosis and treat using a variety of treatments such as soft tissue (massage), mobilisation, manipulation, stretching and possibly taping or cranial osteopathy,
Each treatment is tailored to the individual depending on needs and personal preference.
Often you will be given exercises or stretches to do at home@to help your recovery.

If treatment is not appropriate for you, you maybe referred to another specialist.

Training 🤓:

Osteopaths complete a 4 year University degree, which includes completing 1000 hours in a teaching clinic and have to be insured and registered with the General Osteopathic Council (G.O.s.C) in order to legally practise in the U.K.
Each year they are required to complete courses and training to keep their knowledge current and in the best interest of patients.
So you are in safe hands! 🤗

April is Stress Awareness Month 😣

As you all know, helping people manage their stress and anxiety in their bodies and well as their minds is something I have a lot of passion for.
With many years of work in this area; working with other professionals as well as patients, clients and students - I’m so excited to be sharing some of this knowledge with you over on 😄😄😄
Monday night (3rd April)
I’ll be on there between 6-7:15pm

I’ll be sharing some info on what happens to the body when we’re stressed as well as some simple tools to help manage stress and anxiety - as well as some fun silly stuff of course 😆🙃👍🏼
