As my inbox has had few “but why’s?” I thought I’d make it a public conversation ✌️Here’s my hot take: women are sold the lie that fitness is about shrinking, toning, or looking “feminine.” We don’t need to take up less space, we need to own more of it.
So why have I done the challenges I have this summer and sporadically through out my life?
Honestly? To know, without a doubt, that I am capable. It’s not about proving anything to anyone else or wanting to look a certain way instead it’s about proving to myself that I can step into discomfort, keep going when it gets hard, and come out the other side stronger because every time I push myself, I discover something new about who I am ✨
I’ve noticed something about myself along this journey too, I often find my way into these events, or back into a training rhythm, when I don’t feel my strongest. (Note to self: stay committed even when you feel strong 🤦♀️ life happens though, right?) I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- you’ll find your hype team in the fitness world, the ones who pick up the pieces & cheer you on 🙌
Training is where I rebuild, learn to sit with discomfort, push past resistance, and prove to myself that I’m stronger than I think (and I think I’m pretty tough 😅). Events are where it all gets tested. That’s where the quiet work turns into the loud, inescapable challenge. Where I get to stand in the fire and have no choice but to prove myself to myself.
Where does this fit with the studio & why am I telling you this?
As a yoga & Pilates teacher alongside being a strength & conditioning coach, one of my favorite moments is watching people realise they are so much stronger than they thought. Not just flexible, not just graceful but POWERFUL. It’s the moment a mindset shifts from “I can’t” to “I just did”.
If you want to find out just how strong you are, we’ll see you in the studio soon (links to book in bio) 🙏🫶
