Happy starting fights with toxic men on the internet day 🥳
International Women’s Day always gets people talking about what should or shouldn’t be said & done. I also stand by my previous year’s rhetoric of “if you are not angry, you are not paying attention” because how can you not be angry?! Just look around, seriously.
I thought I’d take a different approach this year, as someone who works with women and girls in a yoga studio and football development, I see every day how powerful it is when women and girls are given space to move, grow and build confidence. That absolutely deserves celebrating. 🎉
But I also know this: nothing really changes without men stepping forward as real allies & being part of the conversation too. Change requires those with power, influence and privilege (often men) to support, encourage and help create environments where women and girls can thrive.
Some people will say I shouldn’t mention men in an International Women’s Day post. I understand the sentiment, truly. But from where I stand this year, rooted in sport and in community spaces significant progress only happens when we work together.
That’s the kind of culture that moves things forward & one I will continue to create by being “that” person having “those” conversations with men & forever advocating for women and girls.
Happy International Women’s Day 💛
