Our Community Outreach team, together with One Gloucestershire Health & Wellbeing Partnership, are supporting the Blood Pressure UK campaign ‘Know Your Numbers’, in a bid to reduce heart attacks and stroke.

The team are out and about offering simple health checks at community venues across Gloucestershire, providing people with the opportunity to have a chat about how they might make positive improvements to their health and wellbeing, discuss any concerns they may have about their health and get a free blood pressure check.

Tomorrow they will be on the information bus at Parsonage Street, Dursley, outside Bank Café (10am-2pm). Come and say hi to our friendly team and get your free health check!

Protein is a really important nutrient, essential for repair, keeps us feeling fuller for longer, aids muscle growth and repair, slows down digestion and does not particularly impact blood glucose so its important we get enough. Vegetarians sometimes worry that they aren't getting enough, but there are plenty of really good meat free options to choose from. Here are some really great options from Food

This week we are focusing on protein, including protein at every meal is a good idea, and snacking on more protein rich foods can also be a good idea, but rather than go for the heavily processed high protein snack options (often low in nutrients, high in saturated fat) on the supermarket shelves, look out for some higher quality naturally protein rich options such as small pot Greek yoghurt (15g protein), 25g bag of nuts (5g protein) 2 x babybel (9g protein) with a couple of seeded crackers, small pot hummus (4g protein) with some carrot sticks. More ideas here from Good Food

Small bites packed with protein to help you stay satisfied throughout the day. Everything from yoghurt bark to egg muffins.
