What an energetic start to our Comets Super Sunday session! 🌟

We kicked things off with the team favourite game of Tails, then set sail as pirates playing Treasure Island. We finished the session working on dribbling, stopping the ball, and shooting. ⚽️

So many fantastic goals were scored today, all the coaches are incredibly proud of every single one of you!

FA Comets Programme – Coaches Wanted!

Our FA Comets Programme is growing, and we’re looking for passionate coaches to join our team.

Sessions take place on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at 9:00am, located at The Edge Community Centre.

Whether you’re an experienced coach or looking to start a new coaching journey, this is a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious and welcoming club. You’ll receive full support, with FA qualifications and all essential training fully paid for.

If you’re enthusiastic, caring, and keen to make a difference through football, we’d love to hear from you.

Many of you will already know our fantastic U12 coach, Sarah 🩵💜👏

What some of you may not know is that Sarah is also a keen (some might say mad! 😄) runner 🏃‍♀️💨 and will soon be taking on the Tewkesbury Half Marathon 🏅 in aid of Sunflowers Su***de Support 🌻🌻💛 — a truly important and very worthy cause.

Sarah is absolutely amazing with our players 🦉⚽🩵💜 and a huge inspiration to our youngsters, parents, and fellow coaches alike 🌟💪 This challenge is just another example of her dedication, compassion, and commitment to supporting others 🌻💛👏

🦉 U16 WMIL Cup | Aston Villa Academy 🦉

What a day of football and commitment from our U16 Owls, who made a two-and-a-half-hour round trip to compete in the West Midlands Inclusion League Cup at the fantastic Aston Villa Academy 🩵💜
We proudly entered two teams — Barnwood Clarets Owls and Barnwood Blues Owls # — and every player represented the club with heart, effort, and pride.

💜 Barnwood Clarets 🦉
A strong and composed group-stage performance set the tone:
• 0–0 draw
• 1–1 draw (Kayden ⚽)
• 2–0 win (Harry ⚽⚽)

Into the semi-final, the Clarets were outstanding, winning 2–0 with goals from Keds and Harry, creating loads of chances and showing real attacking intent 👏⚽

The final was a tense, emotional contest, finishing 1–1 at full time (Ethan ⚽).
It went to penalties, where the Clarets were narrowly beaten 2–1, with Caleb stepping up and calmly converting his spot-kick under huge pressure. Immense courage and character shown — so proud of this group 🦉💪

🩵 Barnwood owls Blues 🦉
The Blues showed resilience and togetherness in a challenging group:
• 2–0 win
• 3–0 loss
• 4–1 loss (Edward ⚽)

They fought their way into the semi-final, where they continued to battle against strong opposition, never dropping their heads and showing real character throughout 💙👏

💙 Overall
After a long journey and a full day of football, both teams showed commitment, togetherness, and belief. The effort from every player was incredible, the support from families was fantastic, and the pride in wearing the Barnwood badge was clear for all to see.

Huge thanks to WMIL and Aston Villa Academy for hosting a brilliant event.

🦉 U12 Owls Training Session Report 🦉

We had around 11 players at training today at coopers edge and they absolutely loved it 🩵💜
The session included some brilliant fun activities, with parents getting involved too, which made it even more enjoyable for everyone.

The players were super competitive, full of energy, constantly shouting for the ball, moving well, and passing all the time 👏⚽
The effort, enthusiasm, and teamwork on show were fantastic from start to finish — they really pushed themselves and each other.

Huge credit to all the players, parents, and Rafe for making it such a positive, high-energy session. Smiles all round and great memories made 🦉😁

⏰ First game kicks off at 13:45, with both teams facing strong opposition from across the West Midlands, Worcestershire, and Staffordshire — including Birmingham City FC, West Bromwich Albion, and Aston Villa 👏⚽

Both teams will proudly represent Barnwood United 🦉 and the county of Gloucestershire 💙💜 — an achievement in itself and something to be immensely proud of.

🦉 Barnwood Owls U12s 🦉
West Midlands Inclusion League Cup – Matchday Round-Up

What a brilliant morning of football for our Barnwood Owls U12s at the West Midlands Inclusion League Cup. Every single player showed heart, determination, and togetherness, making everyone involved incredibly proud.

The team fought through a challenging group stage with three hard-earned draws — 0-0, 0-0 and 1-1 — packed with moments of excellent teamwork, sharp passing, confident shooting and real resilience. One standout moment saw the team fight back from 1-0 down to earn a deserved draw.

The semi-final truly showed this group’s character. After falling 2-0 behind, the Owls dug deep and battled back superbly to 2-2, only to concede very late on with around 30 seconds remaining. A cruel end, but an outstanding performance that summed up the team’s never-give-up attitude.

Despite being indoors, the conditions were extremely cold, making the effort even more impressive. The players showed toughness, focus, and maturity beyond their years, and we are hugely proud of how everyone coped and kept giving their all.

Every player contributed, worked for each other, and played as a true team. This group is growing stronger with every game, and the future looks very bright 💪🩵💜

A massive thank you to our fantastic parents for their continued support (and braving the cold!), and to Head Coach Alex along with Assistant Coaches Nathan and Sarah for their dedication, leadership, and belief in the team.

A chilly start for our Comets with no heating in the hall 🥶❄️, but we soon warmed up with a fun game of Tails! Lots of energy followed with some fantastic agility and dribbling, before finishing off with football skittles 🎯⚽. There were some amazing strikes – the Comets were on fire! 🌟
