What a wonderful thing to take part in 💜

Would you like to take part in the 21-Day Kindfulness Experiment?

It starts on Wednesday, November 13th, which also happens to be World Kindness Day. It’s completely free.

The plan is that I’ll be sending out a short ‘kindfulness’ meditation practice each day, plus a short video (2/3 minutes) encouraging some thinking or reflection on kindness.

And it’s an ‘experiment’ because we’ll be measuring happiness, connection, and wellbeing, before and after the 21 days.

The aim is to see if a 21-day focus on kindness, even a wee bit, can make people feel happier, more connected, and improve overall wellbeing.

What is kindfulness? It’s two things:

Kindfulness as a meditation practice is any mindfulness-based practice where at least part of the focus is in the direction of compassion or kindness.

Kindfulness in life is simply to be mindfully kind in how you interact with people.

I love this concept from particularly as we are in
thepsychologymum - How we feel and the emotions we experience are a central part of our mental health.
Conversely how we respond to emotions is critical for our health, mental and physical. While they can perplexing, stubborn, frustrating, annoying, frightening and downright depressing at times, emotions are a fundamental and necessary part of brain functioning.
In fact, they are central to being human.
Unfortunately societal beliefs often tells us we shouldn’t have emotions or some emotions are bad.
Telling your brain it shouldn’t have emotions is like telling your heart not to beat or your lungs not to breathe, and it doesn’t make your brain very happy.
Emotions don’t always feel nice and can make us want to run away from them. And like any avoidance, short term this seems to work, we feel relieved. But inside your brain is feeling pretty annoyed at trying to hold it all in.
How you respond to your emotions is important.
Research shows suppressing, berating and shaming emotions doesn’t help us deal with them at all and just creates more stress and make emotions feel even more difficult.
Naming, validating, expressing and recognising emotions seems to help us process them and help us become friends with them, rather than them having power over us. It seems to soothe those emotions and instead of adding a layer of more stress and difficult feelings, helps us deal with the ones we have.

These 2 quotes felt like they needed to be shared today 🙏 no matter how dark or alone you feel, today can be the day you choose to not stay there anymore, you choose to do something different and believe things can and will be different, they will be better, you just need to take that first step

Understanding and talking about our emotions can be so difficult. To see the toddler have that depth of understanding so young is inspiring ❤️

💐Wishing you an ordinary day 💐

Life is lived, and enjoyed, in the ordinary moments. The moment where we are standing by the kettle waiting for it to boil or sitting at the traffic lights waiting for the light to change to green. If we can find the calm in that moment, we find peace.

If the only thing that brings us joy is the extraordinary, sipping sangria while watching a sunset in Spain, then we condemn ourselves to a life less lived.

There are lots of self help books and articles written about this concept, Esther Eckert talks about when ‘the ordinary becomes extraordinary’
Michael Foley in his book ‘Embracing The Ordinary’ says “cultural factors such as the obsession with celebrity that makes anonymous, mundane life seem worse than death.’
I wouldn’t go that far, but I do recognise the ‘compare and despair’ emotion many get when scrolling through social media. That idea that ‘everyone else is living a better life than I am’ feeling.

Have an ordinary Saturday, free from the need to compare and despair, free from imposter syndrome and free from perfectionism.

The world is a better place because you are in it. 💐

What a great pick me up when I’m sick in bed with Covid 😰 finding out my comments and business link have been used for the second time this month in a lovely article about silent walking 😁

Here’s why experts are making some noise about the mental and physical health benefits of TikTok’s ‘silent walking’ trend.

This week marks mental health awareness week, with a focus this year on anxiety. For those of you who know me, you know I prefer to talk daily about mental health and work on reducing the stigma and helping people think of mental health as they do physical health, understanding that to feel well we must take care of ourselves daily.
However these awareness days/weeks are brilliant at doing exactly what they say …..raising awareness! So let’s get talking and sharing and the easier it will become 💜

I am going to share with you something amazing… I have not touched a drop of CocaCola for over 6months! 🎉This might sound strange to many but for me CocaCola was my favourite treat drink and it became less of a treat but more of a regular drink of choice. I know how bad it is for you😳but I loved it and I had no intention of stopping. Then whilst completing my Silent Counselling training I did a session on food/drink releasing & used CocaCola as my example not expecting anything to happen even when my body responded showing it did not serve me and from that moment I cannot explain why or how but I have not drank any CocaCola and when I look at it in a shop or when out all I can say is I just feel in my body that I do not want it.

That is how I know how powerful Silent Counselling and Rapid Energy Release is!
I still can’t explain it with words as it’s all about the body, our energy and how we release things.

If you are interested to try this or want to know more please message me 💜

I recently added a new tool to my box as I qualified as a Practitioner of Rapid Energy Release with Silent Counselling. This amazing technique is so powerful for change without having to talk about the past, present or future! What I recognise is that we are all individuals and for some talking helps, for some it can re-traumatise or just be too difficult to find the words. Which is why I have expanded my skill set to be able to offer support and techniques that enable change for everyone. Keep an eye out for more details of this fabulous technique and how it can help you! Or reach out to me now to see if this is the technique you have been waiting for to create change
