Park View Gloucester

Park View Gloucester Park View Gloucester is a Care Home for Older People in Gloucester Quays

The home is state of the art containing a number of low zero carbon systems to make the building energy efficient and kind to the environment, such as a ground source heat pump system that will provide under floor heating and hot water for the home as well as state of the art low energy lighting throughout. Special consideration has been given in the development of Park View to ensure that the building blends well with surrounding properties and architecture and is of benefit to the local community. The home is ideally placed in the centre of Gloucester in an area of urban regeneration adjacent to Gloucester Quays, is within walking distance of local amenities, and has good public transport links. Park View has a secure direct access from the home into Gloucester’s main park which is adjacent. Built on 4 floors with facilities and services designed with the specific healthcare requirements of older people in mind, Park View can support people who still wish to remain independent whilst having peace of mind in a self contained apartment, to those who require nursing or specialist dementia care in a secure environment with dementia friendly design. With such a wide range of care provision it is our aim to be able to provide ‘a home for life’ for all of our residents living here. On the ground floor of the home is a café and hairdressing salon which will be open to the public, then through into a private area there are bedrooms looking out over Gloucester Park. Our Ethos upholds the desire to make a difference to the experiences of those who are both living and working at Park View by creating opportunities for lives which have meaning and purpose. As a socially and environmentally responsible home, our mission is 'Creating tomorrow’s environments'; to create a welcoming community in which we support Older People and our Staff to flourish and thrive. We believe that a person’s individuality should not diminish with age but that all staff and residents should be valued and their lives enriched and fulfilled. The Vision is for Park View become a community of those who live there at the centre, with staff, relatives and friends all having a sense of belonging and a vested interest in the life of the home. At Park View we are dedicated to providing person centred care that meets the individual needs of our residents. We understand that a holistic approach comprises many elements, and our model of care enables us to offer residential care encompassing the physical needs of each resident, as well as enhancing their emotional, psychological, and spiritual wellbeing.

🚧 Important Update – Southgate Street Road Closure 🚧

Severn Trent have closed the section of Southgate Street directly outside our car park gate today to carry out emergency works. They will be digging up the road, and unfortunately, they don’t yet know how long the closure will last.

We’ve managed to arrange emergency access to our car park, so you can still reach the car park if needed, but please take extra care and allow a little extra time when visiting. Please consider parking in the Quays if you are planning on visiting today.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we anymore. Thank you for your patience and understanding 💙

💜 We’re Celebrating Black History Month! 💜

This October, we’ve been marking Black History Month, taking time to learn, reflect, and celebrate the incredible impact of Black history and culture.

We have been enjoying:
🎶 Music sessions inspired by Black artists and genres, from Motown to gospel and reggae.
🎥 Films and stories about Black struggles and triumphs.
🍛 Tasting new dishes from around the world, including Hummingbird Cake!

For those who haven’t tried it, Hummingbird (or Doctor Bird) Cake is a traditional Jamaican dessert made with banana, pineapple, and warm spices, topped with cream cheese icing. It’s thought to be named after the island’s national bird - the Red-billed Streamertail hummingbird - because it’s so sweet it “makes you hum”! 🕊️
Following the original publication of the recipe for 'Doctor Bird Cake', the name was adapted to 'Hummingbird Cake' by North American magazines.

We’ve also been learning about inspiring figures such as Lilian Bader, Mary Seacole, and Nelson Mandela, sparking some lovely conversations and memories.

Celebrating Black History Month helps us all appreciate the richness of different cultures and how they’ve shaped the world we share. 🌍

✨ Celebrating Black History Month: Remembering Lilian Bader ✨

Born in Liverpool in 1918, Lilian Bader became one of the first Black women to serve in the British Armed Forces during World War II, a remarkable achievement at a time of great prejudice.

After being dismissed from an early wartime job because of her father’s West Indian heritage, Lilian refused to give up. When the RAF began accepting Black recruits, she joined the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force and trained as an Instrument Repairer, one of the most technical roles available to women.

She went on to rise through the ranks, ensuring aircraft were safe before takeoff. After the war, Lilian became a teacher and author, inspiring generations through her example.

As we mark Black History Month, we celebrate her courage, resilience, and contribution to British history. 💜

💚 World Mental Health Day – 10th October 💚

Today we’re taking a moment to recognise the importance of mental health and wellbeing for everyone in our community, residents, families, and our staff team.

We know that sometimes it’s the smallest acts of kindness, a smile, a chat over tea, or simply being there, that make the biggest difference. 🌿

If you’re struggling, remember: you are never alone 💚

🇳🇬 Nigeria Independence Day celebrations Park View!
Today, staff and residents came together to mark this special day with joy, colour, and community.

We shared delicious party food (zobo drink, puff puffs, plantain chips, and chin chin), staff wore party outfits, and we created decorations to bring the spirit of the day alive. It was also a chance to learn more about the significance of Nigeria’s Independence Day, and most importantly, to celebrate together.

Thank you to our team for making it such a happy occasion 💚🤍💚
