Olive Tree House and Rose Garden are collecting donations for Bristol Animal Rescue Centre; so many of the homes' residents have loved having pets and wanted to support a local animal charity.

There is a collection box in the reception of both homes for items and there is a wish list on the charity's website of items needed https://www.bristolarc.org.uk/donate-goods/ we also hope to take along cash donations and these can be given to the reception team or activities coordinators Liz and Mandy.

We would be grateful if donations could be dropped off by Friday 5th June.

Blossom Fields was delighted to welcome back 1st Ram Hill Scout Group for their annual gardening visit, which is part of the cubs' and scouts' gardening badge. Thank you to the children for their hard work around the home's garden; there were homemade cookies from the hospitality team once the hard work was finished!

Residents always enjoy visits from children and the younger generation; it is an opportunity to recollect their own experiences and impart knowledge.

There were some very special visitors to Blossom Fields from Creature Cuddles Animal Handling and some were real babies. A 9 day-old lamb and day-old chicks stole the show; activities coordinator Rose wanted to take the lamb home!

What a lovely experience for the residents who adored their cuddles; the baby lamb is awaiting a name, and there were some suggestions from the residents. The benefits of animal therapy have been well documented; to see it firsthand with the residents is very special. Thank you to Melisa for bringing in some of your gorgeous pets; it was a real experience for the Blossom Fields' residents.

There was lots of fun with Steve from Memory Lane Entertainment at Blossom Fields. Known for his fun quizzes, this time it was based on singers who have sung for the royal family. Congratulations to Jenny and Malcolm, who won the quiz. Steve also performed some magic tricks and kept everyone laughing throughout the afternoon.

Residents from Olive Tree House and Rose Garden marked World Art Day in the home's art gallery. The art gallery is one of the unique features of Olive Tree House, and residents took time to appreciate the range of beautiful artwork on display. Activities coordinators Liz and Mandy led the discussion on famous artists and the impact of art. Art is such a great way to express ideas, passions and emotions. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon which even had a good old sing song.

Rose Garden and Olive Tree House are fortunate to have shops on their doorstep, and residents so enjoy visiting the local Sainsburys and Chinese supermarket to browse, and normally it involves buying some treats! The routine is to call in and see the children at Happy Days Nurseries & Pre-Schools Charlton Hayes on the way back. Thank you to the team and children who always give everyone such a warm welcome.

Blossom Fields' residents marked May Day with some floral crafting. It was so simple using tissue, felt-tip pens, earbuds, water and Blu Tack. From such simple materials the end result was stunning.

Flowers have long since been associated with May Day, from the earliest known May Day celebration, the Floralia festival of Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers. May Day falls between the spring equinox and mid-summer solstice and is seen as the start of summer.
