You can also look to nature to help you out. Find your local beekeeper, go forage (with gloves!) for young nettle shoots and harvest the tips to use, grab chamomile tea and stew it up, maybe with your local honey, as a base for a nice, anti-inflammatory, iced tea.

Good news, there are foods out there which will actively help you out with your symptoms. They work by either supporting your immune cells or by supporting your histamine breakdown enzyme, diamine oxidase (DAO). They don't even cost a fortune and I'll bet my hat you've got some if not most of them in your fridge, freezer or fruit bowl right now.

Currently out in force we have; the tail end of Alder, Hazel, Yew, Elm & Poplar, the middle of Willow, Birch , Ash & Plane, and the beginning of Oak, Pine & Oil Seed R**e. If you're struggling at the moment with your hayfever symptoms, one or more of these are likely to be the culprit!

Follow this week to see what foods might be adding to your symptoms, what foods will help you out and what else you can do to support yourself if this season is usually miserable for you.

If you are really struggling and want my help sorting your hayfever so you can actually enjoy your summer for once, book a call with me to talk through your options. Message me here or you can book directly on my website.

These are several great herbs which you can use to support your digestion and gut. You can find tea bags for most of them (maybe not dill!) or you may even have them in your garden already. To stew herbal teas as a remedy, pop 2 tea bags in your cup and make sure you cover it whilst it stews 🫖☕

Getting up and moving can feel like a chore but there are so many ways to squeeze a little bit more movement into your day. These are a few good ones! As well as being great for your body in general, moving more reduces stress and has is good for your gut.

Another favourite focus hack of mine is to leave the TV on a YouTube yoga channel so that it's the first thing I see when I switch on (got that one from and it's genius!)

This is the only kind of 'clean eating' I will talk about; some food has a far higher pesticide load than you think, these are the ones to look out for. Aim to get everything from the Dirty Dozen from the organic section and things on the Clean Fifteen are generally lower in pesticides to grow.

The sun has been out in my neck of the woods for almost two solid days now! That calls for ice cream in my book. I can't do dairy and also can't be bothered to leave the house because the weekend is for chilling and lazily walking the dog. Soooo I'm just going to throw together whatever I can from my freezer and I always have frozen bananas because I always have to rescue them from the fuit bowl because I've forgotten to eat them. Again. Also if someone had told me peel first (yeah I know it *seems* obvious) that would have saved me heartache 😆

This makes a super melty, soft scoop style thing if you eat it straight from the blender but if you pop it back into the freezer for a little while it's more of a soft set. If you forget about it in the freezer, firstly how could you? I'm not sure we can be friends anymore! and secondly just leave it on the side for 5 mins to soften up again.

I love to mess about adding in all sorts of things like berries, chopped nuts, cacao nibs, mint extract, I even do a nut butter swirl if I'm feeling fancy! Play with your flavours and see what you like best! I'm going to be experimenting with a pina colada flavoured one this spring. I'll drop you the recipe if I perfect it!

Sometimes we can get so busy taking care of others, that we forget to take care of ourselves.

Self-care is important! And it may look different for everyone...it’s not always a bubble bath and pedicure.🛀💅

Sometimes it’s as simple as getting enough rest and eating vegetables. 🌿🍅🛏

Here are a few simple tips and strategies to get your Self-care game back on track.

Are you doing well in a few of these areas?

What areas could use a little attention?

Breakast...it truly IS the most important meal of the day.

And sadly, so many of us skip it in favour of hitting the snooze button (I even try to snooze my daylight alarm lamp... 😵‍💫)

Breakfast Smoothies are one of the simplest ways to get your morning nutrients and they’re so quick and easy!

Here’s a little Smoothie Making 101:

Start with a liquid of your choice (milk or non-dairy milk, water or coconut water work well)

💪Add Protein Powder of your choice (plant-based, whey protein or casein)

🌿Add veggies (leafy greens like spinach or kale blend nicely and up your nutrient intake, please wilt your greens rather than using them raw though, this makes them easier to digest and lower in oxalates)

🍓Add some frozen fruit like blueberries, strawberries, mango or banana for some extra flavor

Toss in some healthy fats to keep you satisfied (coconut, avocado, nut butter, walnuts or cashews are delicious options.)

Whizz these up in the blender until smooth and you’ve got yourself a portable, nutritious breakfast made in minutes!

Do you have a favorite smoothie recipe? Tell me all about it in the comments. I love hearing from you!
