The first snow of the season at Robertson Nursing Home 🌨️

While we’re not sure how we feel about this cold snap, watching the snow falling through the window earlier this week was very magical. Thankfully, our residents could enjoy the snow inside the warmth and comfort of the home. It’s the kind of sight that lets you know that winter has arrived and Christmas is just around the corner.

Have you had snow this week? Has it left you feeling festive?

Our residents recently enjoyed a visit to a wonderful local business, The Mill at Elstead. This beautiful converted mill is the perfect place to enjoy a hot drink on a cold day, while being surrounded by the pub’s historic features. ☕️ The residents are always happy to visit somewhere new in the local area, and the stunning riverside scenery made The Mill a popular choice with everyone.

We spent a lovely afternoon having a good chat over a drink at The Mill and are looking forward to returning soon.

Last week was the Surrey Care Awards, and we had a lovely time celebrating with our Beritaz Care family! Although we didn’t win an award this year, we had a great time supporting our fellow Surrey-based care professionals.

The Surrey Care Awards is our favourite industry event of the year, the perfect opportunity to celebrate the wonderful individuals working in the care sector in Surrey. It is truly an event that inspires us and makes us proud to be a part of this industry. We were proud to have been nominated for an award and to be among those fantastic organisations recognised for their contribution to care.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees and thank you to the Surrey Care Association for putting on another spectacular event.

A guaranteed way to bring a smile to our residents’ faces is a visit from some adorably fluffy friends. These cute critters have a remarkable ability to brighten up even the dullest, rainy day at Robertson Nursing Home.

A cuddle with a kitten or petting a sweet bunny is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon, and these animal therapy sessions are proven to reduce stress and promote a sense of calm. It is always wonderful to see the smiles on our residents’ faces as they spend time with their new furry friends. 🐱🐰 💖

Tomorrow night is the 2025 Surrey Care Awards and we are looking forward to spending an evening celebrating with all the other wonderful Surrey-based care providers. 🥂

We are very proud to be named as a finalist in the ‘Nursing Home of the Year’ category at this year’s awards, following our success in winning the ‘Team of the Year’ category at the 2024 awards.

Keep your fingers crossed for the Robertson Nursing Home team at the awards this evening, but win or lose, this will still be a fantastic night celebrating the hard-working individuals in the Surrey care sector. Thank you to the Surrey Care Association for recognising our team and for putting on such a great event every year.

Our monthly cooking club continues to be a popular activity with residents at Robertson Nursing Home. 👩🏻‍🍳 🍰

Their latest bake was this delicious blueberry cake, which everyone enjoyed sampling a slice of. Being able to support our residents in their favourite hobbies is very important to us. We know, for the residents that have enjoyed cooking and baking throughout their lives, being able to still enjoy the process of mixing, baking and decorating their own cake is something that makes them very happy. The clubs that we run at Robertson, including our cooking club, are a great way to bring together residents with shared interests to bond over an activity that they all enjoy.

Friendships are formed and, a good chat is had while they do something they love.

Recently, the residents of Robertson Nursing Home came together in the dining room for some wonderful musical entertainment. The residents really enjoyed the beautiful piano playing by a lovely local entertainer, who played a variety of songs, including many that were familiar to our residents. 🎶 🎹

We try to arrange a variety of musical entertainment, featuring different styles and genres, so there is something to appeal to our residents’ varied tastes. Music is such a powerful tool for mental wellbeing and something that brings a lot of joy to our residents.

In addition to our various organised group activities that encourage socialising, we also ensure we make time for some quiet one-on-one activities with the residents.

Spending some dedicated time with a resident, playing a game or supporting them with a favourite hobby is really beneficial for our residents. It gives staff the opportunity to build relationships with the resident and encourages residents to have a chat about anything on their mind. Our staff and resident enjoyed playing some board games and having a good chat in the peaceful, comfortable surroundings of the resident’s bedroom.

These one-to-one sessions are incredibly important and something we prioritise at the home.

We have been enjoying some autumnal arts and crafts activities recently at Robertson Nursing Home. Our residents carved their own pumpkins for Halloween, which looked suitably spooky displayed around the home for our Halloween activities. 🎃 This week, the residents have been inspired by the fireworks and Bonfire Night fun to create their own bonfire collages. 🎆

It's the perfect time of year to relax and get creative with some arts and crafts. Our residents often enjoy getting together for a chat while they work on their artistic creations.

Every single member of the Robertson Nursing Home team plays an important part in keeping the home running smoothly and ensuring our residents are happy and well cared for.

We wanted to show our appreciation to Usha and Begkala, members of our domestic team, for everything they do to keep the home so clean and tidy. These two team members go above and beyond in their roles and are dedicated to making sure our residents have a pleasant environment to live in. Usha also provides support to our kitchen team and helps with tea trolley runs for the residents. Both are valued members of the Robertson family and we appreciate their work.
