A big well done to Augusta, who yesterday had a big chop and cut off 40cm of her hair to donate to The Little Princess Trust to make real hair wigs for children and young people with cancer. 💇🏼‍♀️

We gathered to watch the big moment and show our support for Augusta, who was smiling throughout. 😁 We absolutely love Augusta’s new look, and she was delighted to know her hair will be making a big difference in the lives of these brave children.

In addition to her hair donation, Augusta has also raised over £400 💰 to contribute towards the costs of making, fitting, and styling the wigs. There is still time to donate if you haven’t done so already, to support Augusta in raising funds for the Little Princess Trust and the work they do, as well as their ground-breaking childhood cancer research projects.

Our residents have been enjoying some relaxing indoor activities recently. On these gloomy weather days, it can be nice to make some time for your favourite calming activities while listening to the rain fall outside. 🌧️

Whether they feel like having some quiet ‘me time’, or want to enjoy a chat with a friend, we have plenty of fun indoor activities for residents to enjoy. Our residents have decided to spend their time recently reading, playing games, and working on puzzles… and were pleased to display their completed work. 🧩

What’s your favourite relaxing rainy-day activity? 🌧️

This week, we welcomed some wonderful visitors from Bowells Farm to Robertson Nursing Home. 🐑🐓🐖

Our residents were delighted to see and interact with the adorable farm animals, but above all, their favourite was this sweet little piglet. 🐷 The piglet explored the home and was very happy to say hello to our residents, even enjoying a cuddle with some of them. We even got to help give this lovely little piglet his lunch; it was very sweet to see him happily drinking from his bottle.

We are lucky to work with some wonderful local organisations who support us with activities for our residents, including animal experiences. We have found that animal therapy sessions have a very positive impact on our residents. Interacting with animals brings them so much happiness, as well as helping them to feel calm and relaxed by simply spending time with the animals.

It has been great to welcome all kinds of animals to the home, in addition to the traditional therapy dogs, and our residents have really enjoyed getting up close to a variety of sweet and well-tempered animals.

Next week, on Thursday 5th February, our lovely Senior Care Assistant, Augusta, will be having a big cut right here at Robertson Nursing Home and donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust. 💇🏼‍♀️

This fantastic organisation gives ‘Hair and Hope’ to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. They provide free real hair wigs to children to help restore their confidence and identity, as well as funding childhood cancer research aiming to find kinder and more effective treatments.

Augusta will be donating her own hair to be used to make wigs for children and young people, and is also fundraising to help towards the costs of making, fitting, and styling the wig, all of which are provided by the charity.

If you would like to support Augusta’s fundraising efforts, you can donate here: https://fundraise.littleprincesses.org.uk/fundraising/augustas-fundraising-page2026?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=dssb-EM&utm_content=MPC

Any donations, large or small, would be greatly appreciated in support of Augusta and this wonderful organisation.

We recently enjoyed a visit to one of our favourite local landmarks, the wonderful Guildford Cathedral ⛪︎

Guildford Cathedral is always such a warm and welcoming place to visit. Our residents always enjoy stepping inside this majestic building, taking in the beautiful architecture, and exploring the various attractions and exhibits they have on offer.

As always, our residents had a superb time looking around the cathedral before enjoying a cup of tea in the café there. This is one of our residents’ favourite places to venture on our local outings; we always have a lovely time here and look forward to returning soon.

Today is National Hug Day, a day to celebrate and appreciate the small acts (like a simple hug) that can bring comfort, show caring, and help to build trust. It’s a day to remember that the smallest acts of connection can make a big difference in someone’s life. 🤗💖

At Beritaz Care, we know the importance of comfort, compassion, and connections; it’s all part of the person-centred care provided in our homes. Whether it takes the form of hugs, a handshake, friendly chats, or simply being present, our staff are always happy to provide whatever support our residents need to bring a smile to their faces. Not to mention the four-legged visitors to our homes, who may be our residents’ favourite companions of all. 🐶🐾

Read more about how we work to build trust and form bonds between our residents and staff within our homes. Our residents heard that today is Blue Monday… so we decided to share some smiles and joy to cheer you up on this dreary January day 🔵 🌧️

After all the fun and festivities of the Christmas season, January can feel like a bit of a let-down. That’s why, at Beritaz Care, we do everything we can to keep the cheer going throughout January, while also making sure our residents have some well-needed relaxation time to recover from a busy Christmas season.

We are enjoying music, art, reading, games, and other fun pastimes that encourage wellbeing and provide a great opportunity to be social.
