In Loving Memory of David John Peck
27th May 1938 – 6th September 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David John Peck, who left us peacefully on the 6th of September 2025, aged 87 years.

David was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is now reunited with his cherished wife, Barbara, with whom he shared immense love, laughter, and companionship.

David will be deeply missed by his children Andrew, Sarah, and stepdaughter Joanne, who each carry forward the values and warmth he instilled in them. He was a proud and loving grandfather and great-grandfather, always ready with a gentle smile, a wise word, or a warm embrace. His brother Peter mourns his loss deeply, remembering a lifetime of shared memories, brotherly love, and steadfast support.

A service to celebrate David’s life will be held at Woodlands Crematorium, Scunthorpe, on Tuesday 23rd September 2025 at 1:20pm. Family and friends are warmly invited to come together in remembrance and to honour the life of a truly remarkable man.

Family flowers only and donation in lieu of flowers will be made to the Vulcan restoration fund.

Though he is no longer with us, David's love will echo through the generations he leaves behind.
He was dearly loved, and he will be forever missed.

*Important announcement*

As a lot of people have seen in the news about funeral directors been unregulated and that the profession isn’t protected as in anyone can open a business and call themselves funeral directors.

As well as Florries Army and Legacy investigations.

I wish to reaffirm to our families past, present and future that we have a rigorous safeguarding practises in place in regards to vulnerable people, property and people that are in our care.

In regards to education, I have shared my progress to some people of my Level 3 funeral Directors qualification as well as our funeral arranger Tanisha is going through hers with massive amounts of progress and my bearers are doing their mortuary training as well.

Any bereaved families are of course welcome to inspect my premises to offer comfort that their loved ones are taken care in a safe and clean environment whilst upholding all laws.

Thank you

It was an absolute privilege to look after Jim and by did he go in style. Massive thank you to Beka Staples Funeral Celebrant for her wonderful words of tribute. It was lovely that we finally got to work together after knowing each other for so long.

Everything came together just as Jim would have wanted. He arrived in his cardboard coffin with his MGSA depicted on the side, adorned with foliage & blossom from his garden, his family following in some of his beloved cars, his mourners in country attire. We celebrated his rich and varied life with some of his own musicianship as well as some favourite pieces, an A-Z of his life from one of his daughters, the perfect poem read by another daughter, and a video of him, his beloved wife and their garden. Jacob & team from Casselden & Walsh Independent Funeral Directors and I were honoured to ensure Jim’s life was truly celebrated at East Riding Crematorium.

There is never any judgement when someone has decided that life is that too difficult to handle.

We all must show kindness to those who it affects.

We share this as we would rather it help someone realise that this is never the right choice rather than receive “that” call from a grieving family.

There’s always help if you need it.

My final mock exam before I take three exams to pass my level 3 funeral directors course.

I am very pleased to say I got a distinction with 97% I missed out on one answer (typical!)

I cannot reaffirm the fact not only it is to better myself but for the families that trust me with their loved ones that I am ever trying to be the best I can be for them. That I have the qualifications to give you a sense of safety in your trust in me.

Paging is a massive part of respect which we do as a default unless family ask us not to.

We have done this for years as a simple mark of respect of the person we are paying tribute to.

Yesterday we had a well deserved bbq to say thank you to my wonderful team.

We are a small but dedicated bunch who share the same thoughts about the work we do.

It’s just a drop in the ocean of the sheer pleasure of who I have around me in my team and I’m immensely proud of them.

Communication is key, you as a family have the right to know everything. If there is a problem we will always find a solution.

It’s always best to be clear and honest when giving advice on what can be quite a complicated process.
