FIBROMYALGIA

Spinal Flow Technique can be a gentle, nervous-system–focused support for people living with fibromyalgia, a condition often linked to chronic pain, sensory overload, fatigue, and dysregulation of the nervous system.

Understanding Fibromyalgia & the Nervous System
Fibromyalgia is widely associated with an overactive stress response, where the brain and spinal cord amplify pain signals. This can keep the body stuck in fight-or-flight, making it harder to rest, repair, and feel safe in the body.
Spinal Flow Technique works with the spine and nervous system to help the body shift out of survival mode and into healing.

How Spinal Flow Technique May Help

1. Regulating the Nervous System

Spinal Flow focuses on releasing areas of spinal tension that may interfere with communication between the brain and body.
By supporting nervous system regulation, clients often report:
A sense of calm and safety
Reduced overwhelm
Better stress resilience

2. Reducing Pain Sensitivity

Rather than working directly on painful muscles, Spinal Flow aims to reduce the nervous system’s pain amplification.
As the body feels safer, pain signals may soften, leading to:
Less widespread pain
Reduced flare-ups
Greater comfort in movement

3. Supporting Deep Rest & Sleep

Many people with fibromyalgia struggle to reach deep restorative rest.
Sessions often help the body access parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) states, which may improve:
Sleep quality
Energy levels
Recovery between days

4. Improving Energy & Reducing Fatigue

When the nervous system is no longer constantly defending, energy previously used for survival can shift toward:
Cellular repair
Immune balance
Vitality and stamina
Clients often describe feeling lighter, clearer, or more energized after sessions (sometimes gradually over time).

5. Emotional & Sensory Relief

Fibromyalgia often comes with emotional sensitivity, brain fog, and sensory overload.
Spinal Flow can help by:
Creating a sense of internal safety
Allowing stored tension and emotions to release gently
Supporting mental clarity and emotional balance

Why It’s Especially Suitable for Fibromyalgia

Non-forceful & gentle (important for sensitive bodies)
No need to “push through pain”
Client-led nervous system response
Respects the body’s pace and capacity

What to Expect

Progress is often subtle and cumulative rather than instant. Many clients notice changes such as:
Shorter flare-ups
Faster recovery
Improved tolerance to daily life
A growing sense of trust in their body

Gentle Reminder

Spinal Flow Technique is not a cure, but a supportive modality that may help the body access its own healing capacity. It works best as part of a holistic approach alongside medical care, rest, nutrition, and emotional support.

Pain does not always come from a big injury. Sometimes it builds quietly through everyday habits the body adapts to, until one small movement is enough to trigger discomfort or symptoms 🤍

Daily patterns like repetitive actions, poor posture, or favouring one side of the body can place ongoing stress on the spine. Over time, this can affect how the nervous system communicates, influencing not just movement, but overall wellbeing 🌀

The Spinal Flow Technique supports the body by helping release stored stress from the spine, allowing balance, ease, and natural healing responses to return 🌿✨

If this resonates with you, book a session with me to learn how Spinal Flow can support your body.

Our Story

I am based at home on Elsie Street, Goole and offer Remedial and Therapeutic massage therapy treatments for muscle spasms, aches, tension, sciatica pain, swelling, joint pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia pain, poor circulation, anxiety, depression and more. Want to keep on top of your pain? Regular treatments are key, if you only have treatment sporadically your body will soon revert back and before you know it the pain will be back weighing you down.

Looking for relaxation? With the addition of aromatherapy oils specially blended to your individual requirements or hot stones which are used to transfer heat to the muscles before being used to massage the body with, I can address most conditions.

My aim whether your treatment is for a particular problem area or for general relaxation, is to help you to live better, whether that be by helping you manage pain, improve range and ease of movement, getting you back to work or improve your productivity at work, or give you the ability to enjoy family activities and hobbies again...and help you stay that way by addressing any issues as they begin.
