A common misconception is that electrolytes should only be taken by athletes, that’s not actually the case!
Having low electrolytes can make you feel tired, groggy, give you brain fog and even dizzy. If you suffer with headaches even though you drink lots of water it might actually be the fact you have an electrolyte imbalance!
For women supplementing electrolytes can massively help with bloating, water retention & cramping especially around your period 💁🏻♀️
Electrolytes are minerals that carry an electric charge around your body and are essential in the body, they also actually help your body absorb the water that you drink! They are a mix of sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, phosphate and bicarbonate. When you choose an electrolyte supplement make sure you check the amounts of each that are contained as some will only have 50% of daily recommended dosing! 🙄 If you are pregnant you are safe to have electrolytes just make sure you avoid any containing Vitamin A.
They prevent dehydration, improve physical performance, support muscle function, they help maintain healthy brain and heart functions & they also aid recovery from exercise - you will recover a lot faster from training.
When you NEED extra electrolytes:
☀️ When it’s really hot outside
🍸 When you’re hungover - I always harp on about this on my stories. And as someone who doesn’t get hungover I have this nailed down 😂 Hangovers are dehydration so drinking plenty and hydrating before you go out and the next day will help prevent you feeling rough!
🤢 If you are sick!
🏃🏻♀️ After high intensity or long endurance workouts
Long story short everyone can benefit from electrolytes 👌
