The Truth About Health Anxiety: The "Checking" Trap 🪤

Did you know that the things you do to feel safer actually make your health anxiety worse?

When you constantly scan your body for symptoms, you notice sensations that would otherwise be ignored. This creates a "feedback loop":
1️⃣ Check: "Is that a lump/pain/flutter?"
2️⃣ Focus: Your brain amplifies the sensation because you're paying attention to it.
3️⃣ Fear: You assume the sensation is a sign of danger.
4️⃣ Symptom: Anxiety itself creates real physical symptoms (chest tightness, nausea, palpitations).

The Tip: Next time you feel the urge to Google a symptom, Wait 20 Minutes. During those 20 minutes, engage in a sensory activity (like washing your hands in cold water or walking outside). Often, once the "threat-detection" system calms down, the symptom miraculously fades.
